Title: The uselessness of the "no fly list'
Post by: OzmO on July 21, 2009, 07:36:01 PM

I was just reading this article about how useless the "no fly list" is and how easy it would be for someone to beat.

Let's say your name is "Ahmed Mohammed" (who is by the way on the no fly list) and you want to fly in the united states but you are on the no fly list.

All you have to do it this:

-  Buy a ticket (southwest airlines) under another name online.  Let's say "John Smith."
-  The night before the flight check in on line and print out a boarding pass.
-  Save a copy of the HTML file on your computer and using the text editor change the name to Ahmed Mohammed and print out a second boarding pass.
-  You can't check in any luggage because they will ask for ID at the ticket counter
-  Because you have your "boarding pass" just go to the security line and show your Ahmed Mohammed ID and they will let you on. (no scans, they just initial)
-  At the Gate, use you John Smith boarding pass.
-  Presto!  You're flying.

This is a big flaw.  Something needs to be done.

The fly list is actually very useful... for the government.  Got masses to fear, stfu and line up for their anal probes. ::)  Useful in any other way, nope, not really....

Yeah, seems like just a gimmick to make people feel safe.

I'm no expert, ...but somehow, it seems rather unconstitutional to me. {shrug}   :-\

well then you're missing out on one of the most important movies ever made.  Office Space.  Go buy it ASAP and don't say I didn't ever give you anything valuable. ;D

OK, I'll check it out... one of these days. I've got the CoCo channel story for over a week and still haven't had an opportunity to view it. Same with 'Bruno" and the lastest "Harry Potter" film. It might take me a while to get to.

From this perspective, and based on the size of the avatar, he looks like Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Office Space = Way greater priority than Harry Potter, trust me...
