Title: Question for Chick (and others in the know!)
Post by: Moen on July 22, 2009, 04:07:20 PM
Next week I'm getting a prosthetic disc to replace a completely pulverized L5-S1 disc, I know you had a fusion done somewhere around that segment too Bob. Afterwards, did you completely avoid exercises that put a lot of pressure on the spine such as deadlifts, squats, shrugs, ... or did you still do them, albeit lighter?

Just avoid them all together....whats the point of taking a chance?  No one exercise is THAT important

Chick, how many days a week do you workout now? Do you still enjoy training, or is it just a means to an end? (i.e. image that needs to be maintained for industry) Be honest, do you still workout legs?  ;D

I work out 4 days a week..still enjoy it, but not as much as preparing for competition.  I dont train hams much, or do any "big lifts"...much easier to find pants that fit

I have the same disc bulge, you'll have to let me know how the surgery is.  Do you have function of your calf?

Thx guys!
Will do viking. Remind me of this in about 6 months or so since I'll be having shoulder surgery in august as well and that requires a longer time off training so it's doubtfull I'll be training again much sooner than spring 2010. Calf function is completely normal btw

Don't be sad. People who can't laugh with themselves are the ones who are truly sad  ;)

never understood why someone needed to completely cripple themselves for a fucking ego trip of squatting the equivalent weight of a VW Bug..workout to feel good..not to end up in the ER..

very true ...it's stupid

I've done it myself

squatting 315 for 12 deep reps and 4-6 sets is mooore than enough even for advanced bb
