Title: MD's photoshopped covers
Post by: BayGBM on August 02, 2009, 12:42:00 AM
Does anyone else think MD's doctored cover photos are getting out of control?  Isn't Branch (and everyone else) freaky enough?  Why go so obviously overboard with the photoshopping? ???

Speaking of photoshopping covers... http://www.latimes.com/features/lifestyle/la-ig-photoshop2-2009aug02,0,194591,full.story

That one of Kai's legs is the worst. I'll try and find a pic of it. They love to use that sharpening tool.

why do people still keep buying bodybuilding mags, its like people still want to know that little secret of building monstrous arms and legs, it aint rocket science queers. just admit you buy them to jerk of to the pics, at least that could be a logical reason.

I bought a few issues of Flex when i was 13 to learn how to train/eat and i actually thought i would be able to look like Arnold etc. lmao, after a few months of training at 13 i quit weights because i made such little progress and didn't start training again till i was 17 lol and i accepted the fact that i would never look like that but i would just try to get the best physique i can naturally.

Yeah I mostly agree, I like the MD look, but with the covers they do the stretch/warp thing slightly too much sometimes, so that it's unrealistic and a tad insulting to those who can spot it's fake.

We don't need to. Blechman and the MD staff read Getbig all day long. Trust me...

When 'Cara from MD' left she spilled the beans about the Getbig obsession in that office.

Exactly!  Slight retouching is expected but this trend of stretching and warping is over the top!  >:(

As most of you all had said, it seems all covers are photo-shopped this days...and why not, it's what the consumer sees first, catches their eyes, etc....it's a good marketing ploy, but deceiving nonetheless. I remember Jamie Eason said some time ago where she's been on some covers of women's fitness magazines and she noticed they softened her up quite a bit on those covers. In the eyes of Mr. Joe and Mrs. Jane Average...cartoonish muscles on men are acceptable only in magazines and women should always be...well, completely feminine.

Ever since the early retirement of Palumbo and Romano and thus MD Radio, I've lost interest in MD. Still have the coolest pics but Flex is a better read. Haven't bought an MD since maybe January or logged into their site in months.

I will say that magazines will always take the veins off us girlie's arms in print if we are shot close to contest.
The reality is when you are lean, you will be somewhat 'Angelina Jolie' veiny at times...

The abs sell issues - but not quite the veins.  :)
