BJ showed why he is the best at that weight and why the fans love him so much. That was the real BJ Penn. He was unreal and wasn't tired at all after the fight. Can't wait to hear from the Penn haters.
-
Florian is an ass clown, "round by round, skill for skill" who finishes fights now?
-
BJ Penn finishes fights ;D
I give BJ credit for jumping up in weight to fight GSP
I don't see GSP eager to fight Silva at 185

BJ looked great. I feel bad for BJ thought. He has no where to got, he hasn't been successful recently at welterweight and if GSP stays there for a while his chances of winning a title are slim. His fate is to stay at lightweight and dominate until he gets old and of course whine while he is at it.
The same goes for Urijah Faber. The way Faber is built really limits his ability to move up. If he moves up he becomes shawn sherk, a short guy with limited reach fighting taller fighters with a reach advantage.

When I spoke to Urijah, he said he has talked with the UFC and has plans to move up to 155 just to do a few superfights, possibly a rematch with Tyson Griffin. Although he said, he probably would like to go to 135 and clean that division out too at some point (since he only cuts like 7 or 8 lbs to make 145).

Very happy for BJ. I am a "KenFlo" fan, but he was talking WAY too much smack before this fight.
BJ is a true warrior and a legend of the sport. He got his butt kicked against GSP, but that happens in this sport. No shame in that. GSP was just too strong and athletic for him at 170.
Kenny tried to implement the "GSP strategy" of wearing down BJ and taking him down for ground and pound, but he found out just how hard that is to do. He didn't get a single takedown in all his attempts. Other than GSP, I don't know who has the wrestling to do that.
And can the commentators shut up already about BJ's conditioning? ::) He hasn't really had a conditioning problem since he fought Matt Hughes. "Conditioning" is not why he lost the fight to GSP.
-
I might add that Diego will create another tough matchup for BJ, as he is very aggressive and a BIG lightweight. So there is at least one more good fight for us to look forward to in the division.
-
What Penn haters ??? Don't confuse liking GSP more for hating Penn. That was a good fight and I was glad he shut Florian up.

Absolutely right about the GSP. BJ eyes were way bigger than his brain. GSP is just way to big and strong for BJ. BJ should just stay at that weight be undefeated for the rest of his career, take on whoever is coming up in the ranks then retire. I would like to see a BJ and Faber fight.

That makes sense but that is probably as high as he can go. I can see a Tyson Griffin match up being an exciting fight.

I understand what you're saying, but there was no harm in BJ testing himself at 170 against GSP. Remember, BJ is a guy who once fought Machida at 205. He gave it a shot and he lost. He would've always wondered how he'd do in a matchup with GSP if he didn't at least give it a try. So we are in agreement, but I think saying " BJ eyes were way bigger than his brain" is a tad harsh. Not too many thought that fight would be so one-sided beforehand.
Faber vs. BJ? BJ would give Faber a major beating, in my opinion. Not too interested in that matchup.

Correction: he fought Machida as a heavyweight.

Diego doesn't have a very aggressive guard game. He is a great top player, but BJ will not have to worry about getting subbed from Diego's guard. I don't think Diego will be able to take BJ down, so it will come down to the stand up and WHEN BJ decides to take Diego down. Diego is a HUGE lightweight, but couldn't finish the Carpenter. I don't see him posing any real threat to BJ unless BJ has another mental lapse during training.
-
diego's cardio could cause some problems for penn....
more interesting a match up than florian was actually..
-
Am I the only one that thought BJ was starting to gas badly after the 1st round... he looked pretty worn out by rounds 2 and 3, I thought it Kenny had kept pushing that pace by round 5 he could have taken Penn out.
Penn's conditioning is the most pathetic in all of mma
-
if he was gassed florian would have been taking him off his feet...
I think he's was planning on going five rounds and was pacing himself by knowing what he had to do to win rounds ....
B.J's a monster @ 55 !
-
Diego would end Penn in the first round. WAY too aggressive for Penn... much stronger. And he's bigger and has the heart of a lion.
Diego will be champ.

I am soooo looking forward to that fight. I'm a huge fan of both fighters.

I agree, BJ jumps up, puts the weight, eventhough not good for him, when GSP is questioned, it's one excuse after the other, cmon, let's see who is best pound for pound

Yeah, i'm looking forward to it too. I don't especially like either, but Diego gained my respect after his last fight with Guida. I just see him being too much for BJ. I bet it's inked soon.

Diego definitely has the edge on cardio and sheer will power, but BJ has the edge on BJJ & boxing. It's a great match up.

Yea it appears so. He wasn't even breathing hard at all. Plus he didn't even sit down between rounds. Yea your eyes are getting pretty bad as is your predictions. Maybe you should take up needlepoint.

thats what she said. :D
BJ has to be one of the worst names in the world LOL

Agreed it will be a great fight. Two different style of fighters. I think BJ will take advantage of Diego's aggression and wait for him to make a mistake.
BJ is far to technical for a young Diego.

Yes, but BJ goes for takedowns VERY rarely, so I don't know how much of an issue Diego's guard will be.
I think it will be a tougher fight than you think...

Yes!!!!!! put that fat lazy hawaiian slob out of his misery!!!@!!
I can't wait, Diego's a sick fighter... so much natural skill and talent

I think we will see more of this from BJ. He passed Florian's guard with basic technique and lots of pressure. Once he has your back, it is good night.

Your opinion pretty much sucks, you have proven that. Good job
-
although deigo is very good i think bj will control where the fight goes. deigo wont be able to take penn down imo, penn will take down deigo though imo. the striking belongs to penn also imo, even though deigo aint no slouch in striking himself bj will be to much in the end. bj by rd 3 or 4 imo

That's not onlyme.
