Post by: benchthis on August 09, 2009, 09:16:38 PM
i have a question regarding calves..
do you feel like you can gain any mass only doing 2-3 sets of 4-6 reps for calves?

Tried it and it didn't work for me.  But I know some people that swear by it!

My calves grow with just plain squats.  :)

I haven't done Max ot before, but i have tried training calves similar to that for a while and didn't really like it. Gone back to the typical 10-15 rep range for calves.

Honestly, people overthink training.  Diet and gear determine growth, not "this training system" or "that training system".  So long as you're training regularly with reasonable intensity, you're good.

probably optimal to mix it up with higher reps. 8-12 region. I really think when training gastroc reps should be in 8-12 range, below that and the weight gets too heavy for proper form and more than that and you're starting to hit low-twitch. 15+ reps for soleus.
