And sure enough, Chris mathews of MSNBC has this gun-toting republican on Hardball right now, showing off what he calls his 'loaded weapon'
Republicans, people like this are making your party look nuts, just so you know. Showing up with a sign saying "It’s time to water the tree of liberty" and toting a gun, open carry... are you that stupid?
President Obama traveled to Portsmouth, New Hampshire Tuesday for what many feared could be a rowdy ‘town hall-style’ meeting at a time when some foes of his healthcare overhaul have shouted down lawmakers holding similar events around the country. But no such disruptions occurred at the event.
Earlier, MSNBC’s Ron Allen reported that cameras filmed a protester with a handgun strapped to his leg the meeting before Obama arrived. The man was seen carrying a sign saying “It’s time to water the tree of liberty.”
The man’s “tree of liberty” sign is a reference to Thomas Jefferson, who said “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
Allen says the Portsmouth police chief told him the man’s gun is legal, because he is on private property — he is on the grounds of a nearby church. Police say his gun is registered and he can keep it on him as long as it is not concealed.
“The police are obviously keeping a close eye on this man … and I suspect that he won’t be here when the president arrives in a few hours’ time,” Allen told viewers.

well, at least this disproves Obama wants to take your guns away.

i can see how the sign reference could be taken as threatening but surely you don't believe this guy makes the whole republican party look nuts?

it does? how?

Nope.
However, it's safe to say about 100% of the people toting guns at town halls are repubs.
Also, nbc breaking news of a second arrest for guns at town hall. Hey, didn't some republican just tell his followers to "show up armed"? Looks like some listened.
-

i don't know, who said it?
-
it does? how?
He was within his legal rights to carry his licensed unconcealed weapon.
His second amendment was not stomped on even within distance of where the POTUS was scheduled to be.

And you think most of those armed conservatives are a danger to someone?
When I lived in VA I felt safe. Everywhere I went there were people with concealed carry. Many were my friends who only got to exercise this by being stationed in Hampton Rhodes.
Now I live and work in/near Baltimore and concealed carry is a myth. Crime is horrendous.

For some reason you strike Debussey as a very balanced person.

It was a serious complement. You just seem like a very balanced person, which is a good thing.

Most? No. Some? Yes.
People in FL carry every day. I do, every day. it's very nice. Would I hold up a sign calling for revolution while packing heat where the prez is arriving? Of course not. that's asinine.
And what will millions of viewers see? Some pro-gun nut. Thanks, guy. Way to make all gun owners look bad.

It doesn't help to have a media portraying every gun owner in this country in the same light as nazis and racists.

the media is VERY quiet on guns, most of the time. They know 80% of people are pro-gun, and it's a hot button issue that will push a voter away quicket than anything else.
I watch a few hours of each network daily, and guns just don't come up.
until one person comes out to protest obama, wearing one.
Just dumb.

The guy seems like he is well informed but made a very stupid decision bringing the gun there BUT he also could've been a plant to discredit the movement.

Yes, if he's legit then in the few seconds he had to respond he did well. You would have probably peed yourself if you were ever grilled on national TV.

He said nothing at all of substance or contextual meaning. Furthermore, he had no point whatsoever to the issue at hand which was Healthcare. Amazing that this sort of low-base nonsense appeals to you.

I hate to say anything bad about a fellow Ron Paul supporter, but the dude's a numbskull.
-
LOL... I would like to cawkslap the next guy that says we live in a communist society.
Try bringing a gun to a town hall (open carry no less!) with a revolution sign in China and Russia. My guess is, your ass woudn't be on Hardball that night, without arrest, babbling about your 'point of view'.
oh brother.

You should not be afraid to call out members of your own party or people that you think you identify with, particularly if you disagree or if they are wrong or misinformed of the facts.
Don`t give in to dogmatic belief or protect individuals undeservingly because of party affiliation or similar identity. Doing so allows the door open for disinformation as well as extremism when left unchecked.
-
Perhaps this guy was concerned about the SEIU boys, trying to rough him up, as they did the black conservative man in the St. Louis town hall.
This may have just been a message to the union bubbas that, if they start acting up, they're going to get pumped full of lead.

hahaha, you're the one to talk, you are NEVER critical of anything or anyone that even remotely comes close to what you believe in, even if they are way off base on other subjects for fear it will unravel anything you mentioned here before. You're so cocooned up in your own philosophies having a debate with you is like debating a wall.

How do you know the St. Louis attacks were started by union workers?
Just more hot air from the right.
Here's the story covering what happened.

It seems that the TEA BAggers showed up to disrupt the meeting. Things escalated.

The guy left BEFORE Obama showed up.More lies from the left and that spitting ,no tallent,no ratings fool,Chris Mathews.

He was on the Chris Mathews show what dd you expect? That he was going to be given a podium and mic and 10 free minutes to talk? He didn't seem like one of those folks that just chants slogans without knowing the history behind what he's saying. I picked on that in just the few seconds he was talking and so did Chris, you on the other hand need everything dissected with charts and graphs to understand.

He sure has no understanding of Jefferson usage of literary allusion nor the context of his quote or its intent. Chris Matthews did a pretty good job of exposing this clown and the line of questioning was apt and direct.
Side Note:
I am beginning to think You=White Trash

It seems that the TEA BAggers showed up to disrupt the meeting. Things escalated.
One, the black man in question was simply selling flags (there’s a real rabble-rousing tactic there).
Two, the attack on that man was shown ON TAPE.
Three, the very article you linked backs what I just said.
Kenneth Gladney, 38, a conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with "Don't tread on me" printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room at St. John's Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was awaiting treatment for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack.
The only hot air is coming from folks like you who foolishly think that just the tea party protestors are the ones who are against this healthcare debacle. From the same article you just linked:
"All the polls show there is serious concern, if not outright opposition, to the president's health care plan," said Antonia Ferrier, spokeswoman for House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio. "Democrats are ginning up this cynical shell game."

OK, what makes you think that the attackers were union members gone bad? I have no idea why you printed 1-3 above b/c none of that shows me that the other group (non-teabaggers who were inciting the riot) was comprised of union members.
-

They had union shirts on I think.
-
Mcveigh was wearing a t-shirt with the "tree of liberty" speech on it the day he blew up the building.
This guy has the same shit on his sign. pathetic.
-

The big fat black guy had a union shirt on.
He didn't hit anyone.
In fact you don't even see the fight.
Somehow the rightwing press thought it could libel its way to impugning unions by innuendo.
Typical. The tea baggers start the riot and the union people are blamed.
I read personal accounts of the matter. Each one goes like this: the teabaggers started it. The cops over-reacted. The arrests shouldn't have been made.
Apparently life is like an unsportsmanlike penalty in football-the guy starting the fracas is not the guy penalized.
-
First of all, only an idiot would wear a gun someplace the POTUS was going to appear and not expect shit to occur. He left before Obama got there for the simple fact that the secret service would have handed him his ass on a platter if they caught sight of a gun within 1000 yards of any sitting POTUS.
Fucking idiot douchbag.

Was it smart? - No freaking way.

That shirt had a picture of Abe Lincoln and the quote is his.Have we now gotten to the point that wearing a shirt quotting one of the greates me in the history of the country is pathetic because some pussies on the left say so?.Its a shirt MANY people wear.I see guys wearing AC/DC hats and yet the NIGHT STALKER Ramieriez wore that same hat when he committed one of his murders. Is that pathetic?Your points,as usual are idiotic.
There were MANY police there. No arrests.Do you know why?HE BROKE NO FUCKING LAWS ASSHOLE!!!You see in America we are still governed by laws and just because you limp wristed fuckheads from the left try to take rights away YOU CANT DO IT BITCH!!!No arrest,no breaking the law, just you ranting like a girl on the internet.Pussy.
-
Sometimes it pays better to be smart than "legal".
Now if he had the balls to really make a 2nd Amendment statement, he would have stuck around. But he didn't do that. He showed up, got his little bit of attention and then haul ass before it even meant anything. Probably the smartest thing he ever did in his life, run away.
-

Even Chuck Todd of your beloved MSNBC said they had the story wrong. The guy wasnt there protesting Obama. The guy HATES the government and had shown up at Bush rallies as well.He was not a health care protestor,he protests EVERYTHING having to do with the government. He broke no laws, did NOTHING wrong, made his point[or what he thought was a point]and then destroyed Chris Mathews who Chuck Todd had to correct the next day.
-
I never said the guy was there protesting Obama.
I never said anything about Todd or Matthews or any of the other airheads you obsess over watching all day long and then arguing their talking points.
I never said anything relating this to Obama at all. What I said was very simple. Did you miss it?

Your point is foolish. The secret service would have arrested him?For what?Following the law? There was no threat made,he did nothing wrong. It wasnt smart or dumb,it was just what he wanted to do.There is no point. The guy hates the government,he carries a gun because its allowed by law. There is NOTHING else to the story.
-
Did I say they would have arrested him? Where did you read that? Because I didn't say it.
