Title: Does Bleach Kill Mold?
Post by: Eyeball Chambers on August 13, 2009, 12:47:47 AM
Got some moldy 2x4 framing.  Will straight bleach take care of it?  Some websites are saying bleach only makes it worse?

Got a dehumidifier running

Yes, but not usually on wood (wood is too porous).  And you never want to use it straight.  ~3/4 cup to 1 gallon water.  Of course it goes without saying - NEVER EVER mix bleach with any other chemical.  You probably need a mold and mildew remover with bleach (the bleach should prevent re-occurrence).

This post is correct . . . water activates bleach. You got to mix it up with H2O.
