Title: Tuna idea
Post by: docroc on August 17, 2009, 11:55:08 AM
Hey guys,
I like tuna for it's nutritional value but don't really like eating it straight out of the can. What are some easy ways to incorporate it into a snack that can be used during cutting season?  Placing it on top of a rice cake and throwing a slice of provolone then zapping it for like 20 seconds did the job for awhile but that got old.  Any ideas?

During bulking I like adding a couple cans of it to mac'n'cheese along with a can of sweet peas.

microwave for 30-50 sec, add black pepper, add no-sugar ketchup.

some kinda barbeque spice like texas or chili can be good too

Adding a splash of vinegar can enhance or soften the taste for some folks.
And although not conducive for everyone when cutting (depending on your diet), I much prefer the tuna packed in oil - much more palatable.

For even the disciplined trainers who never quite get over the initial hump of dry, bland, shitty tasting food, you can always shovel in a mouthful of tuna (or dry-ass grilled chicken), chew a few times, and just wash it down with a big swig of water.

Sometimes it’s the only way.

Stupid-ass grilled chicken...

first of all they have all kinds of flavored tuna now but that sweet and spicy is prob the best one...what i usually do is take a can of tuna with diced up grilled chicken and salad with hard boiled eggs and maybe some hot sauce (my preference) that usually works for me...but things like pepper hot sauce spicy brown mustard i even like using taco bell hot sauce on it (little diffferent taste than regular hot sauce) all these things make eating bland foods mush more palatable...good luck..

Good ideas with adding a bit of spice to tuna; didn't even think about that. Thanks

My favorite way is to sautee some garlic in some olive oil, then add a couple cans of tuna, heat a bit, then add a squeeze of lemon juice.  Tastes awesome on toast, pasta, brown rice  or alone.  Fuck it.  I'm gonna make some tonight.

i forgot about the lemon juice but that is a great way to spruce it up a bit with some hot sauce also....if you like hot sauce my favorite brand is the Texas Pete its not overly hot and they have real good flavor....

The way I do it the calorie count is 480, not bad for a quick protein packed meal.
