I'm sure this was not the kind of 'change' people had in mind.
Depression, What, Michelle Worry? Mrs. Obama Demands Small Army of Attendants
First Lady Now Requires 26 Servants
“In my own life, in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much,” she said. “See, that’s why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service,”— Michelle Obama.
We were wrong.
Michelle Obama, as we reported on July 7, is not served by twenty-two attendants who stand by to cater to her every whim.
She is served by twenty-six attendants, including a hair dresser and make-up artist.
The annual cost to taxpayers for such unprecedented attention is approximately $1,750,000 without taking into account the expense of the lavish benefit packages afforded to every attendant.
Little did American voters realize the call for “change” would result in the establishment of an Obama oligarchy.
The discovery of the additional attendants was made by D’Angelo Gore of factcheck.org and by calls to Katie McCormick Lelyyeld, Michelle Obama’s press secretary.
Mr. Gore launched his investigation of the First Lady’s staff in the wake of an article that appeared on thelastcrusade.org and Canada Free Press on July 7.
The article, which became a chain letter viewed by millions of Americans, reported that Michelle Obama requires more than twenty attendants - - more than any First Lady in U.S. History. It provided the following list of White House staff members assigned to the First Lady:
$172,2000 - Sher, Susan (Chief Of Staff)
$140,000 - Frye, Jocelyn C. (Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Policy And Projects For The First Lady)

$75,000 - Starkey, Frances M. (Director of Scheduling and Advance for the First Lady)
$70,000 - Sanders, Trooper (Deputy Director of Policy and Projects for the First Lady)
$65,000 - Burnough, Erinn J. (Deputy Director and Deputy Social Secretary)
$65,000 - Reinstein, Joseph B. (Deputy Director and Deputy Social Secretary)
$62,000 - Goodman, Jennifer R. (Deputy Director of Scheduling and Events Coordinator For The First Lady)

So you don't like the fact she's giving people jobs?
Is this unusual for the First Lady?

She is not giving anyone anything. You are with youir taxes.

Sure am... I give to people at the IRS, the DOD, the FAA, FEMA, Congress... You name it.
Back to my real question. Is this unusual for a first lady?

That was my question when reading this too.

No its not. Needless to say, its a complete waste of taxpayer money.

Is it? I mean... Are you sure? She's a figurehead. How is this a waste? I don't think that I agree on your preconceived definition of a "waste".

She is the spouse of the president, She does not need a staff that most small businesses dont even carry. Additionally, most of those jobs can be carried out by unpaid interns who could use the college credit.
We need to save $$$$ because, just as Obama saya, we are on an unsustainable path.

Exactly. 333 will defend Palin's wardrobe till the cows come home but on this? Not a chance.
-
I hope things like the hair dresser and makeup artist aren't being funded by taxpayers. Those are things she needs to pay for herself.
-

Palin gave the wardrobe back. Will the Obamas ,who demand that WE sacrifice, pay back this waste of money to the tax payer.By the way, perhaps she might hire someone to make her look less like a man.
-

I think it was asked and has yet to be answered - is this the normal thing for a first lady? I have no doubt every single first lady used tax payer dollars to fund her wardrobe, hair makeup etc because they are apart of the face of the nation. I have no problem with this nor did i ever. Seems a bunch of democrat hating going on in this thread.

How can you say that?
She represents the US all over the world... She's the busiest woman on the planet most likely... I don't see how your logic flows on this one.
On top of that. How man unpaid interns do you have in business? College interns get paid man... Everywhere.
No one will do that stuff to not get paid.
-
Exactly. 333 will defend Palin's wardrobe till the cows come home but on this? Not a chance.
Where did taxpayers pay for that you marxist goon?

Oh wow insults on her looks, how very mature of you Billy. Come on now i mean really? You're stooping to calling people ugly that you dislike? I think this is the case of you having a crush on her but expressing it like a 5 year old would - with insults and rock throwing (this time though thankfully minus the rock throwing).
-
how much did that alcoholic laura bush get? or hillary or that butter ball barbara bush?
-
Where did taxpayers pay for that you marxist goon?
Dude... Her wardrobe is always paid by taxpayers... At least when she was governor... It had to be... Her salary was paid by taxes.
How is she getting money now? I'm guessing the RNC is paying for her to roll around.

If they get credits it is paid and think of how that looks on the resume.
I have a few interns who are required to work without pay, but I slip them $$$$ under the table anyway.

Well, every intern here gets paid dude. I don't know what else to say.
Would you want an intern having access to some of the data that Michelle has access to and most likely flows between her staff? I wouldn't.

You don't trust a wet behind the ears kid to make sure The First Lady's itinerary is correct.

Technically 4. 22 of them were there before.
;)

Are you sure all of them work full time for Michelle Obama?
None of them have several assignments?
Just asking.
Having a staff of 22 persons working full time isn't necessary though, if that is the case.

WhY?Obama trusts a kid that didnt graduate college yet to fix the auto industry.

Shit - we have Obama in the White House, the ultimate wet behind the ears clown.
52% of the voters trusted this this clown with the office.
As for Michelle Obama - those staffers are probably on a constant run to taco bell, KFC, 7-11, and Dunkin.
-
Mrs Bush had 15, but the point is that Obama was supposed to be about "change' ::)
I guess the 'change" is that Mrs. Obama will probably double it before long

Well,he changed the deficit. He made it four times larger.Thats change we can believe in.
-
This says she has 22 people directly or indirectly working for her.
It also point out that that's around the number who've worked for previous first ladies.
Just reading the titles you see that a lot of the positions are double-duty. Some are part of the President's staff and some are part of the social office, which deals with more than just first lady stuff. Some are just unique titles for positions that require more than one person to fill them. If you've ever been involved in anything that required dealing with the press, this number doesn't sound too out there.
-

What's that got to do with anything? Last I checked, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs didn't graduate college either, but you're not going to tell them how to run a company.
Actually, you probably would. ::)

Because they have a track record of success. This punk running GM dropped out of school and have never run a lemonade stand.

They didn't have a track record when they started. ::)
I get it... You guys are haters. Someone has some success in life and you don't like it... so you pick on his age... You pick on what he "hasn't done" according to you guys.
I get it.
Get this on your license plate the next time you stop by the DMV.

Gates was not using, and was not in charge of tax dollars. His was a small time operation that grew into a massive success due to its inovation, market success, etc.
The kid that was put in charge of GM does not have that same track record.

When will you say that he was a success then?
What does this "kid" as you like to put it... (Who's really not young at all, but whatever.) Have to do, before you will say, ok... He did a good job.

Increase in Market share
Pay back the taxpayer all $$$ provided
Not require taxpayer subasidies to survive.

Ummm, those guys are self made millionaires. This kid,has done nothing,is nothing and is employed by the government to run an industry in which he knows NOTHING about, has no expieriance in.Its like hiring the president of N.O.W to deliver babies because she marches in abortion protests.

Did laura Bush require 22 people in her staff?
Yes or no?

Her staff sounds bloated to me. I shouldn't be paying for her to wear lipstick. ::)

Doesn't matter to me if previous First Ladies had bloated staffs. Doesn't justify the current bloated staff. She needs to pay for her own hairdresser.

I totally agree. A bloated staff is not necessary.
As for the hair dressing issue...
I kind of agree.
But many companies are paying for their top employees gym and health care.
In order to have them look their best.
Eg all the big news outlets like Fox and CNN. Their employees get hair dressing and are styled.
Michelle Obama is the first lady and I suppose it should be in the interest of USA to have her look her best.
Although, she will always look like an ape according to Billy-Moe Mimnaugh. 8)

Well . . . maybe (about the gym, etc. perk comparison). But she already gets free healthcare, housing, transportation, etc. and she doesn't even have a job. If we weren't forced to pay for her hair and makeup, she would simply pay for it herself. It's not like we'd be depriving her of anything.
This subject is sort of gay. lol . . . :)

CEOs wives often get those perks as well... This is another non-issue.

Hehe... She's not even a valid governor... Governor of 668,000 people, mayor of a town of 9000.
She's a beauty pageant runner up who got lucky and somehow coasted into an election.
The real question is how did someone lose to HER in Alaska's gubernatorial contest?
Good job talking out of both sides of your ass.
-
I didn't know that Michelle Obama got paid.
Of course she's getting paid. She's getting compensation in the form of free housing, car transporation, air transportation, more than twenty staff, and somone to do her hair and makeup, all at taxpayer expense.
-
Good job talking out of both sides of your ass.
No... She proved herself to be a fool. This "kid" has not.
Nice gimmick though.
