RALEIGH (AP) — A consumer advocacy group says the cost of buying health insurance for a North Carolina family has climbed five times faster than income since the start of the decade.
Families USA released a report Tuesday that says insurance premiums almost doubled between 2000 and 2009, from $6,650 to almost $13,100. The figure includes worker and employer payments for health care.
The report says median earnings rose by 18 percent, from $23,100 to $27,330 in the same period.
Families USA says health care costs continue to rise faster than income while employers scale back coverage and employees pay higher deductibles and co-payments.
The nonprofit for health care consumers says coverage costs are an increasing burden on families.

Here is a question that no-one is bothering to ask in D.C.
Why? :-\

Bump as I will try to go state by state regarding average Private Health Insurance costs per family.

No doubt, this is a huge issue. I think the biggest reason for rising cost is medical technology...in that case, it will be difficult to stop the rate of cost.

wow, that is a huge rise in cost.
If we see another decade of increase like that, most people aren't going to be able to afford it.
Maybe obama's trying to stop the problem so at the end of his 4 or 8 years, we aren't looking at a situation where 50% of America doesn't have coverage?
