I agree with you and don't think it's a big deal as we did it too but if you listen to it, he approached addressing her not from a left's point of view, He specifically noted addressing what she was doing from a heritage viewpoint. Frank is Jewish and yea, that's got to be stupid for a whole different set of reasons for Jews.

I personally witnessed a demonatration against Bush as Hitler in a cage and it made me pretty angry to see this in 2006 even though I never supported the Iraq War or many of his other policies. I was appalled at what I saw.
Nobody should be comparing anyone to Hitler.

Who knows. I remember driving past these people as they were in my neighborhood as Bush was attending a private fundraiser nearby.
I decided to stop and see what they were doing and saying. They were some of the nastiest people with no real agenda or substance other than Bush hating. The smell off of them was so putrid, you would think they all rolled around in a bucket of Cumin before coming to "protest".
They then saw me, well dressed in all black and accused me of being Secret Service or someone there to intimidate them.
A few of them came up to me and starting harassing me asking who I was and what I was doing there and if I was Secret Service.
They really had no point and I drove home knowing how horrible they make themselves look with their blatant display of stupidity.

The daily kos has over 114,000 referances to Bush-Hitler if you do a google search on it.So,so far its like 114,000 to 20 in Hitler referances with the left having a slight advantage.

There is nothing fucking wrong with doing this. Have we really forgotten the long ass history of characturing leaders in all sorts of obsurd ways to make a point? There's nothing wrong with showing obama as hitler. IMO it's just silly as I think there were more things to compare with Bush.

The problem with MOST people is they hold a position that they cant defend.Why bother with a Hitler/Obama picture?Why not simply repeat the question that kid asked Obama the other day about private sector not being able to compete with a government run program because the government doesnt have to make a profit.Obama couldnt answer it all BECAUSE they know there is no answer except that the private sector company goes out of buisiness.

totally agree todays youth(fuck i feel old saying that) has been desenstized to the whole situation of hitler and the nazi's seriously Im barely old enough to remember the first gulf war but to compare somebody...ANYBODY to hilter and the attrocities that he and his goons commited is about as ignorant as you can get. I think there's a big distinction to be made. First of all, Obama's grandfather didn't make a fortune as Hitler's banker, financing & laundering elicit Nazi funds. Nor was Obama's grandfather trading with the enemy, or being a war profiteer. I think there was and remains much evidence to cast certain aspersions & suspicions in Bush's direction.
I loved the way Barney Frank handled the situation as well. Good for him.

With respect to Hitler,
I think it blunts the historicity of Hitler, World War II, the atrocities, etc... and serves no purpose to be under the delusion that Bush=Hitler or Obama=Hitler such as these protesters believe. Their messages make no sense at all in the context of using Hitler to further their points. Hitler has become the personification of evil, which is understandable, but in my opinion, historical context matters especially when trying to get others (is that the point of protesting?) to understand your message.
Simply by calling Obama Hitler or Bush Hitler there is no actual transfer of information and leaves the observer wondering, just what is it that has these people so up in arms about their shallow comparison.
