Post by: Determinator on August 25, 2009, 03:37:08 AM

well at least he tried and succed at some things in life, think of all the people (and maybe yourself) that didn't have the balls to try and do what they wanted to do. And they did was sit and home and think "What If". Kevin actually put forth some effort .I give him props.
he's been in what, 3 movies? He has had more roles than most of the model/waiter/actors in Hollyood

As much chance of success as him winning an Olympia. That is why he's resorted back to bodybuilding. However, as stated, he is now past it in that field.
In addition, listening to the crap that he used to droll out of the microphone, it is hardly surprising that he decided to ditch that (yet another) failed enterprise.

Did a math degree 10 years after school. Got a first class honours classification and am now a math teacher. levrone would not have the intelligence to do that, hence, he'll just have to try and rewind the clock. Not much chance of that though, at what, 43 ?

because it is laughable the things that he will do to get noticed and receive adulation. He is a fool, with a string of failed careers, mainly because of lack of talent and basically being thick. It is comical how he's turned to b.building again.

I am certified teacher as of 10 yrs ago. But i don't teach But I never have been on a Mr. O stage, never was in 3 movies, never was in a band... Never owned a Acura NSX either  ;). His dvds and vids motivated me, and people who know him have told me many positve things about him. I'm from MD and from his neck of the woods. He has always been positve...

Now, here is the question, had you been a Pro bodybuilder, would you have done the smart thing and gone off the sauce for the off-season, and then grow into the contest, or would you have kept juicing, just to satsify your own ego?

he played it smart, and it is a well known fact, that many "intelligent people" don't make intelligent decisions

Your question:
"Now, here is the question, had you been a Pro bodybuilder, would you have done the smart thing and gone off the sauce for the off-season, and then grow into the contest, or would you have kept juicing, just to satsify your own ego?"

Answer: Not applicable, as i would not/have not have been so thick as to take 'sauce' in the first place.

Your analysis: "he played it smart"

Indeed: failed 'singing' and 'movie' 'careers.' Answer: revert to b.building at 43 and a has-been.
Yes, very 'smart.'

Indeed, 'nearly' right.
"Kevin Levrone is one of the very best bodybuilders EVER."   The incorrect word used here is "is". The key word should have been "was."
Rather than just lay his past in the past, he decides, after a string of embarrassingly 'failed' careers, to try and relight his bodybuilding flame, only to find that it will no longer burn at 43. This resurrection will see the has-been undergoing 'yet another' pitfull embarrassment.

I think kev has earned to right to take a stroll down memory lane if he wants, it's not like he's getting onstage and embarrassing himself. he also looks better than 99.99999% of all getbiggers, including you

And if he makes some coin in the process selling some bullshit supplement, good for him. The fucking Weiders made a shitload off his back selling their bullshit. So it's all relative.

He should just stay there in the past.
Trying to resurrect his past, when now a has-been, and of the age of 43, will just result in 'yet another' failed venture.
Levrone *was* essentially a 90's bodybuilder, now failing at resurrecting in a 21st century world.

Same goes for bodybuilding. Kevin Levrone in bodybuilding has achieved more than what you've achieved in mathematics, is well known all over the world and will always have his legacy. He's not the first person to try his hand at things like movies and fail. That's nothing to be ashamed of.

What exactly about your being a maths teacher (if you are indeed one) puts you so much above him that you have to mock his attempts at making something of himself after his stint at bodybuilding? Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Everyone has different priorities.  Teachers don't make shit for money compared to most professions, but they do okay...  it's not like they're working retail or on cleaning crews.  And the advantage is they get 3 months off in the summer, every weekend off, and every federal holiday off (even the stupid ones like "columbus day" and "MLK day").  That gives them a lot of time to pursue things other than work, and a relatively low stress level.  Teachers also have decent job security...  when was the last time you heard of a teacher being downsized or outsourced?

I and many others have chosen a different path in pursuit of the almighty dollar, but I can't blame someone who would want to be a teacher...  they probably have 1/3 my stress level, and a whole lot of time to pursue hobbies and passions other than work.

I haven't been doing it that long though, so there is a lot more work outside of the class than people think; preping for 5 lessons takes time. However, after a few years, like everything, that part gets a lot easier and quicker.

Yes they said that to make Arnolds "raise to the top story"  more interesting ......but the true is that Arnold was the cockiest man around hanging with A list actors only and the top of Bodybuilders when trainning in the gym  only the "cream" was allowed to enter that circle...... I dont see any accent barrier in Arnold's sucess.

I think Kevin is cool. He is way more multi-faceted than almost any other bodybuilder out there besides Arnold. Most bodybuilders seem very one dimensional. Kevin wanted to also sing and be in a band..From some accounts, he wasn't that bad ..and I bet he really enjoyed doing it. There's something to be said about enjoying the process..whatever it is. He wanted to be in films..and he made a few..he didn't suck that bad. Again, I bet he had an awesome time doing it. So what if he doesn't get worldwide acclaim..He got into something and he tried it. Hell, I went to film school a few years back..made some fims and they won at film festivals. I have some feature films in the various stages of development. If I don't get famous, no big deal..but like Kevin, the experience has been enriching. It's not always just about the "making it big" thing..It's about pursuing things that you like and being creative..something most bodybuilders wouldn't get. Props to Kevin.

this video is so fucking funny.........kevin is such a braggadocio asshole its almost like a joke,.....if you watch the video, he is supposed to be talking about the upcoming olympia.......instead he takes the cameraman on a room by room tour of his new gym (which is now defunct like every other failure in levrones life)

complete with a tour to the aerobics room (where he spends 2 minutes talking about how he has the only purple powdercoated treadmillis in all the world).......and the daycare center.

best part......at 2:45 he goes to this restaurant which i guess was cooking all his meals at the time........and he acts like he is a king.....telling people to serve him.......and then he has the waiter bring him a bowl full of squeezed lemons to wash his hands in (cause he is a big star ::)........this happens at around 2:45........so fucking funny

he is just the biggest douchebag in the entire world..............the best part is that he failed at everything he has ever tried in life. now he is a drugaddict/alcholic who posts youtube videos that everyone laughs at.

Kevin's bodybuilding career did quite well, and argueably, he could of been Mr. Olympia once or twice.  That being said, Kevin actually got some roles in some movies, which is more that 99% of fellow people can say.  Whether or not they were commercial success' is irrelevant, as many actors have had less than stellar movies before getting a great one.

That being said, Kevin is coming out with his new line of supplements, so that should be interesting.

As for the movie still picture with Kevin in the hospital, a movie called 'The One' (I think that is the name) coming out in December is what I gather it is from.

In the 1990's, Kevin Levrone, along with Shawn Ray, were the staple of top bodybuilders.

Kevin's way of getting in shape, gaining weight as he got closer to the contest, was vastly different than many other bodybuilders.

I agree since I never liked Yates physique anyways,  Shawn Ray and Kevin could have taken the tittle from 92-97 IF it was up to me.....

The thing is that he failed as a rock star (wich i have nothing agaisnt)...then he went down to 145 pounds to move on from bb and  pursuit a Motion Picture carreer ....

And now all this "Youtube all day long Project" ..... Just for the sake of getting the attention he had failed to gain in show biz.

If you view mathematics and bodybuilding as fields of "equal value" you can say that Levrone's achievements are far greater than Determinators.

If you take a more realistic approach and seeing mathematics as part of the group "mankinds finest intellectual pursuits" and seeing bodybuilding as part of the group "monkeys sticking needles up their ass, blowing sugah daddies cocks and taking years of their lives while posing for fags and teenagers with latent homosexual tendencies", then it is not far fetched to claim that mathematics is a far more worthy pursuit than bodybuilding.

With this in mind, claiming that Determinators achievement is greater than Levrones = not far fetched either (this is of course given that we are not judging by a sense of personal satisfaction that one get from attaining mastery and success (by witch sand castle competitions would be comparable to physics breakthroughs. The standard for comparison between fields and for assigning values of importance in this case  must be the criteria given in the second paragraph).

While Levrone is a part of a bizarre subculture where he really contributes nothing to humanity besides inspiration to a few fags with punctured arses, being part of the mathematical community (and getting a honors degree, quite an accomplishment) = being part of the tradition of brilliance that makes humans great, and one of the biggest reasons for the development of the modern civilization.

Determinator can do many things with his mathematical ability, and using his good intellect for something productive (like shaping the minds of young hopefuls) puts him in a position where he is absolutely "allowed" to make fun of former roid monkeys with an alcohol problem.

In Kevin's defence, at least he is trying to do something, and his odds of success does increase with every attempt. Unfortunately, even though the odds = increasing, it will still be pretty low as the man from an outsiders point of view = not very talented in music or acting, and there has been questions about his work ethic, an extremely important ingredient in reaching the pinnacle of any area. With his age and "late start" in mind, it is doubtful that he'll ever get the quantity of training needed to become successful in his field (and his charisma (the thing that probably carried Ahhnold to the top of Hollywood) is practically nonexistent, so unless his personality magically transforms, he is screwed.

Important question: What can Determinator contribute? He can shape young minds, he can help cracking engineering problems and so on. What can Kevin do with his skillset? Not much. For once: He is an absolutely crappy musician ;D

And please don't use this post to analyze Arnold. Arnold is a different specimen and his bodybuilding legend should be viewed as a byproduct of a man with fantastical abilities and work ethic competing in an era where bodybuilding could be viewed as something more than an obscure drug fest. Arnold got himself to the top in 4 different areas, and should be worshipped for the personality attributes that made him great.

Anyway, I don't think maths and bodybuilding are fields / pursuits of equal value, cause the concept of value always raises the question, "Value for what and to who?"

You can say maths is of more value to humanity than bodybuilding in one way (although one could argue about that at length), but even if that's true, that doesn't necessarily or automatically make Determinator more valuable a person than K Lo, simply because he practices it for a profession.

Bodybuilding has been reduced to a whole lot of assclowns abusing drugs and making a circus freak show of it, but that's not all there is to it. 99% of the people who start bodybuilding don't do it cause they are motivated by all the sordid happenings of the industry or what some of the meatheads get involved in. They do it because it's all about improving one's self, body, image and mentality. I'd say bodybuilding is just as great as maths, albeit in a very different way.

K Lo may be a drug abuser and all, but his physique has inspired countless people to improve their own, while giving them a vision of what is humanly possible. I'd say that is much bigger and grander an impact than Determinator could have on his students. Between the 2 of them, Kevin has achieved way more than Determinator has, in just as difficult a field of pursuit to be successful in, financially and otherwise.

Debussey wrote a semi-serious post hoping for you to engage in some serious non-productive discussion, and you come up with THAT? Where is your master-debating competitive spirit you fuckface? DEbussey thought this could become a hard headed argument  >:(

You are right in that evaluating the importance and value of a field = difficult, but in this case you have to try to look at the total effects on the "human system" as it serves for a good standard (and it touches strongly upon the question you write about importance).

Let's just say that if you removed bodybuilding from the planet tomorrow, the impact would be miniscule compared to if you removed all of matematics tomorrow (haha, defining how this should be done and what should be removed = extremely difficult, but lets keep it simple for the sake of the example). If all of mathematics were removed, the human civilization would collapse and regress back to the stone age (no more technological development, no maintenace of existing technology, collapse of markets ect). If you removed bodybuilding, you'd get rid of a few roid monkeys and parts of the fitness industry, but the impact would be breadcrumbs compared to the civilization destructor called mathematics removingitis.

In the future, the world economy will become more and more based around technological improvement, and mathematics = key component in practically all of that. Hell, mathematics is a key component in the world economy itself, and it helps run practically all of our sciences in one way or another. What does bodybuilding to to rival these things?

And your example of Kevins inspirational power is not a good one.
There are tons of inspirational characters out there, and Kevin is not a well known one in the myriad of them, even if we limit ourselves to the sports world. The actual impact his accomplishment has had on no-roid monkeys = not that big, and it could be assumed that he has also inspired thousands of men and women to turn their bodies into laboratories for underground bacteria filled injectables. Since he was one of the top BB's, his inspirational power to the hardcore roid monkey would probably be insane.
So Kevin might have been the inspiration for criminal activtiy, Gay for paying, drug abuse and reckless living too, but at the same time he should get some credit for the share of healty people he might have helped "create".

Hell, his inspiration might have caused more harm than good ;D 8)

Addition: Debussey does not include the average "gym goer" in the definition of a "bodybuilder" here.

You cannot deny Kevin's achievements in bodybuilding, he was one of the best of all time.

As far as strength goes, forget it, he owned just about everyone. I remember Sonny telling me that he did a seminar with Kevin in Germany and Kevin benched 4 plates for 20 reps without even warming up.

If he decided to get back into competition he could easily do it. He was in my show in 2002 and out of shape, he went back to the USA had a crack and nearly beat Ronnie in the Mr Olympia that same year.

Absolute freak and a cool dude to work with.

Here are some shots of him meeting up with Sonny and I in Melbourne, Sonny rated him as one of the best of their era and loved being on the Euro tours with him.

Sum = If Bodybuilding was removed only bodybuilders suffer and Chick loses his job, remove math and the world will collapse.

WTF have you accomplished in your life? You are so obsessed with Kevin. Can you not see that if you didn't give a shit, you would stop with the hatred, but yet, it ensues.

Is that supposed to be impressive for someone full of drugs?

Yes, very much so.

If you were on the drugs he was on back then, would you have been able to bench 495, overhead press 405 and curl 100 pound dumbells with perfect form? Thought not.

Just be careful Determinator...Depending how far down the rabbit hole of mathematics you want to go, it rarely ends well...To stay sane you have to stay connected to the grid...

Point is he MOTIVATES & INSPIRES people all over the world each and every day with his acheivments.

You? Nobody would even notice if you died today. :)

Indeed, 'point is' : let use look at how levrone "inspires and motivates" people every day:

The Levrone CV:

'Career' as a (Bodybuilder)?

Failed music 'career.'

Failed acting(?) 'career.'

Return to bodybuilding, as he is talentless at everything else-but forgot that father time has ticked on and he's going nowhere at 43

Indeed, very 'inspiring.'
Title: Re: Kevin, Oh Kevin. Poor Levrone.
Post by: Determinator on August 26, 2009, 07:26:29 AM

But let's not forget themain reason for this rare Debussey post: To deliver a message: Kiwol is a penis.

DeSpermInarseNator: Very good accomplishment with your degree. Did you participate in the Putnam competition? What was your score?

Thank you very much for your kind words. It is good to see someone who can see through the trees and do not kiss ass like the vast ma=jority of idiots that 'adorne' the board.

Did a math degree 10 years after school. Got a first class honours classification and am now a math teacher. levrone would not have the intelligence to do that, hence, he'll just have to try and rewind the clock. Not much chance of that though, at what, 43 ?

And now you are teaching little snot nosed five year olds that one plus one equals two...BIG DEAL. It took you thousands of dollars and years of classes to do something any knothead could do right out the gate. Kevin may have to do some soul searching to find his groove... rather than trying to get into the movie industry maybe he should have gone after the training and nutritional guidance of movie stars...this would have been guaranteed money for him forever.

Props to Kevin.

and that, my friend, is the problem

I don't see the need to spill so much hate towards Levrone.

Honestly, while he hasn't been the most successful actor, rockstar or even bodybuilder, at least he set out to do the things he dreamed of doing.  Who gives a shit if he didn't strike it big?

The guy is living his life the way "he wants" to live it.  Not many people can say that they have done or are doing the things they always wanted to do in life.  Most people work shit jobs (Regardless of how good or bad they pay) doing things that they really don't care to do.  Even the most successful lawyers, doctors, businessmen and even politicians tend to hate the fact that they "have" to work.  While they might appreciate the fact that their career is one in which they feel comfortable, at the end they still have to answer to someone above them or answer to the very basic need for everyday work in order to continue to do the things they find pleasurable in life.

While Kevin might be going through the motions in trying to decide what's the next step in his story, at least he is able to live out his life in the way he desires.  One day when he is older and looking back with his children, he'll be able to say that he lived out his dreams.  Be it to perform on a stage with people cheering him on as a rockstar, bodybuilder or even as an actor, he will be able to say that he lived his life to the best of his ability and he worked his best at living out his dreams.

Everyone hating in this thread should think about that for a moment.  The vast majority of people live like robots, why trash a guy for trying to truly live life?

brilliant post

people don't like to see others have a better life than their own, him not becoming a big time actor or rock star makes them feel better about their own failures and struggles

every time a well known person hits a bump in the road, it's a relief for the people at the bottom ;)

Like others have said, only on getbig that even if you try, you are considered a failure! How many people can say that sitting around wishing they should of, could of, would of, but didn't!

Not trying is considered a failure!

yes, this hits the nail in the head. Good post

The OP is stuck in some shitty job he probably hates, while Kevin although not becoming a big star in music and movies has always enjoyed the process of doing what the hell he wants to do.
Being his own boss so to speak
