Title: The US was suppose to be more like the EU?
Post by: Eyeball Chambers on August 28, 2009, 08:47:02 AM
I read somewhere, (maybe on here) that the founding fathers meant for our Country to be more like the European Union in that each State would be more like each Country of Europe, and our Federal Government would deal with similar issues as the European Union does concerning each member Country.

Is that true?  If so what the hell happened?  ???

well one way to look at it is that the countries of the EU are a little like our states were in that they had more power or will be soon enough.  And give it a little time you'll probably see that each country in the EU has about as much power as states, which isn't much and at any time subject to threats if they don't go along with whatever is the order of the moment by the central gov.

Interesting, that's kind of what I meant.
