Title: Bill Moyers on Bill Maher Show - Excellent Discussion
Post by: Straw Man on August 29, 2009, 08:43:46 AM
It's a half hour long so I know it's well beyond the attention span of some who post on this board.

He's also critical of Obama but somehow manages to do it without screaming or calling him a nazi, socialist, etc...

Yes, but Moyers saying that "we" had "noble intentions" in Viet Nam... Come on!

Kinda like lost me from there on. Especially when you are speaking on behalf of logic (or so Maher thinks).

In my book you either tell it like it is... or you don't. As simple as that.

yeah - Moyers is not perfect.

He also claimed to be clueless of JFK's affairs, etc..

btw - there are plenty of things that Maher has said the past that I don't agree with either

What have you disagreed with Maher about?  Just curious.  There is really nothing I have disagreed with other than when he says that Fast Food is unhealthy which it is not at all.  Then again, most everyone is relatively stupid in regards to diet even the "experts" on this site.

Off the top of my head I don't agree with him abou 911 and I'm not a fan of PETA.

I tape his show every week and he often makes off the cuff remarks that I don't agree with but I'd have to go back and look to recall what they are.

Either way, I'm definitely a fan.  Sometimes his show suck and sometimes it's very good.

Jeremy Scahill was on fire on his show a few weeks ago

By "on fire" I presume you mean he was saying things many people did not want to hear? I mean, when he said that Obama was basically continuing, on the ground, right now, most of Bush's policies, including contracting mercenaries, keeping torture chambers in Tristán DaCunha (or Baghran), et cetera; he got minor applause and Bill's "do not go there" look, followed by a "change is slow".

This is why the right has an easy time winning elections. Democrats are as much of a hypocrite as republicans are, without the tax breaks of course.

Scahilll was talking about Blackwater and giving Chuck Todd (MSNBC) for not covering the story:
(quality of the video kind of sucks)

yes on both

I don't think anyone on that show wanted to hear what he was talking about and I think Bill got a little freaked out once or twice

the problem with Dems is that they talk a big game but then seem to lack the balls to follow through

we could use another party or two

or three
