A few years back the top three locations in the US producing the best competitive and non-competitive bodybuilders were:
a. California
b. Florida
c. New York
And New York was far behind the top two.
How have things in the bodybuilding world changed today?

Las Vegas, has become the new LA.Alot of pro bodybuilders live in Vegas.We even have Craig Titus and Kelly Ryan, staying at our fine state guarded hotel.

Bigdumb, Hookers are only legal in certain counties of Nevada and surprisingly NOT in Las Vegas. So be prepared for a long drive or an expensive round trip cab fare to Pahrump about 40 miles west of the Strip.
For you lady GetBiggers and some of you guy GetBiggers, there have been plans afoot to open a male cat house in Pahrump too, but I think that there have been some legalities involved.

Jude, Texas is definitely one of the top bodybuilder states now, but it wasn't back in the 70's (and possibly the 80's too). If I recall right it got a Bodybuilders rep when Titus was starting to compete there. (Right?)

might be useful to talk about cities, or at least metropolitan areas, rather than states. Where are there centers of bodybuilding? Venice, Fullerton, Las Vegas, Dallas-Fort Worth, Long Island, New Jersey suburbs of NYC, Tampa, Oakland, what else?

Add Texas, replace New York (state) with "NYC Metro area", and keep FL on the list but move it to the bottom. Vegas might be becoming a bodybuilding city with the O held there and some pros moving there, but it doesn't really have enough of a population base to be included.

We here in Vegas do fine for the Olympia and USAs but the local NPC scene sucks balls. We could do alot better and at have at least one more local contest.

It goes pretty much by metro-areas and the list he gave is pretty accurate for the bodybuilding hotspots.
I wish I could add Chicagoland but the NPC/Bodybuilding scene around here is so divided. I blame the 'powers that be' behind the NPC and bodybuilding promotion around here. It seems they keep the bodybuilding community in cliques and herds always hating on other cliques and herds.

For instance, the Oakland area produced many more bodybuilders than it's sister cfty. San Francisco, just across the Bay.
San Francisco had LaLanne, and Walt Baptiste, Bill Stathis, and a couple of high school kids who were way ahead of their time (Mel Knoll and Dave Heilbron}, while the Oakland area had Reeves and Freeman and Hilligen and a slew of others. (I need some help here.)
