Must have been your lucky day. Could have been much worse. I did something like that once and got this road rash that was a bitch to clean out. Kevlar > leather

Never thought of trying that...I read plenty of theory books & such on the loo, however.
how can you believe in something you dont know
And until the clouds open up, the clouds subside and a divine light shines through....I've really yet to see any hard solid evidence of something I should believe in.
-
Motorbikes are always risky, you were lucky.
I tend to ride slower and less, lately.
Most of the time I drive my bike without any helmet.
Just T-shirt, jeans and sunglasses, for the feeling of freedom.

this might be the dumbest post ive read in a month on here.
with that thought process, you should play russian roulette...if its not "your time", then youll win on every spin...

quote the truth, there is nothing wrong with having fun.....even if it kills you ;D
my buddy totaled his R1 the other day while trying to play keep up with my zx14. i saw another wrecked r1 yesterday on my way back from eating lunch......it time to get you a kawi or a honda ;D

Get well bro...I've dumped 4 bikes, 3 on the track though. Just sold my busa and going back the the gixxer 1K being that I want to do track days again. (though its expensive as hell). This is proof that spending the money up front on great quality gear can save you thousands in medical bills not to mention your life. Good job...but even gear can't prevent blunt force trauma so be glad you didn't go into the tree's, guard rail or traffic :-\ .
My mom always said I'd get killed on a bike at which my reply was "no, I'll be thrown far from it when I actually die"..at which she would take a swing or throw something at me. Irish moms have no sense of humor ;D
If your forks and shit are straight..hit up ebay for plastics, ..I found a full BRAND new set for $500! They previous owner bought racing skins. Same goes for any other parts needing replacements ie - clip on's, signals etc
R1 and GSXR are a dime a dozen and there are 1000's of parts on ebay

well i just look at life like that..like maybee it was a good thing that i crashed..there could have been some drunk asshole running a red light at the next interesection,,waiting for me to go splat on their door...i dont know i dont have the answer to why after 51,000 miles i finally caught something in the road..and i was wearing my armoured jacket that night which is something i never do..it was on a busy nyc street but no cars around..again i dont know why i fell during such perfect conditions..but ya it taught me a lesson..

When you've ever had a REAL accident, you'll laugh about htis one. I just hope it will never happen. But what you had there is nothing to bragg about, son.

That's exactly why I'll never ride. Looks fun, probably could cop some trim and all that fun shit...however:
February 12 1996 SF CA...
Roommate is over at a pool hall and decides to ride home. Gets to the toll plaza of the Bay Bridge and pulls out $2 for toll.
13 days later he wakes up from his coma. He is missing his right arm- cut off at the shoulder. Completely blind (later 20% of his vision returns), and has no feeling in his legs. The feeling returns, as does the eyesight...but his life is forever changed.
No more can Michael play his guitar, drive, water ski, walk without tripping over the smallest of cracks in a sidewalk (which he later breaks his collarbone doing), or even being able to open a jar of Peanut Butter for the rest of his life.
His personal life goes down the toilet, which could be a whole story in and of itself. But he's in and out of the hospital for 10yrs, and he's still not recovered in full by the time that ends. He had an HMO when he was in the accident and they spent 2.2 million dollars on him. I believe his last surgery count was up to 27, minus two from the accident (ruptured spleen and torn ACL being the others). He's got skin graphs, muscle graphs, scars from his ankle to his knees that even after 10yrs are still a very bright noticeable shade of red.
One of the guys he was riding with that night didn't even realize Michael had been over by a gust of wind, hit the guardrail and then taken away in an ambulance. The next morning Lou woke up realizing "Oh shit! I totally forgot about Michael!" Dick. Anyway, another guy he was with ended up getting in an accident himself 7 years later, lost his entire right leg, half of his left leg, numerous other broken bones, his 12 year old daughter dead all from being hit head on by a drunk driver.
In another story, a 9 year old girls dad I knew died, while she's survived but lost her entire left leg.......
...I just won't touch a bike no matter how fun it may be.

you sure know how to convince us not to ride a bike.
On a side note: what is the point of a bike but to show off because you have insecurities ? Nobody gives a fuck the way you look on a bike, or the way your bike looks. It screams attention whoring and it's not even useful but if you re a lonely loser with no family.

some of us ride just to haul ass, it has nothing to do with being lonely with no family ::)
if riding is all about attention whoring why does everyones "full face" helmet have a blacked out sun shield....you are a dipshit.
....oh and bro, i am sorry you cant afford a bike. if you are ever in texas i will let you ride one of my bikes....its ok i wont laugh at you.

i do not accept the risks of riding a motorcycle..i thrive on it..
with anything in life high risks =high rewards..
4 wheels will move the body 2 wheels will move the soul
only a motorcyclist can understand why dogs stick their heads out of car windows

look at how many car accidents there are everyday that are equally as disterbing as that one..does that keep any of you from driving your cars?

I was in a car accident going 60 around a 15mph turn, our car slid off the roadway down the embankment, and the car we were racing (that was behind us) end up 15' into the Pacific Ocean near Stinson Beach.
We all walked away, wet, but walking with zero injuries.
In the aforementioned accident in my previous post, Michael was on a bike and hit a guard rail.
So, in a car, there was no injuries while two of us were racing. On the motorcycle, major life threatening injuries, and one person involved....
Keep riding your bikes. I just hope those of you that do, do so intelligently.
-
there's a kid, he must be 8 or 10, that drives up and down the streets in my area on a little mini-moped. Sorry ass parents to let a kid that little have one. He's going 30 mph on this thing.

one time my friend t-boned a car on his bike....got ejected and was able to walk away..had he been in a car he would have died from the impact and the blunt force drama to his brain.
