Does it seem to anybody else that obama is basically trying to take the public option off the table now but leave the door open for it later?
I mean penalties for no insurance solved with public option
"if americans cant find affordable coverage we will provide you with a choice" thats from tonight
still seems like he is talking out of both sides of his mouth

left, right, independant.....
this is what politicians do.
Which POTUS hasn't done so?
Were you born last night?

na a few weeks ago though :)
I guess since they all do it, its ok then huh?
My point was that even if he is taking the public option out of the bill he is setting it up so that he will be able to put it in later on...

Sounds that way to me. He has been talking out of both sides of his mouth on a number of issues. Even though I disagree with him on a lot, part of me wishes he would stop trying to be an appeaser.

nope, it seems to me that the insurance companies are going to be secretly praising their man in the white house. I say buy stock in the big companies asap if you think this will pass. the day this looks like a done deal they will shoot up.

Bascially, the point is change from the bad ways that we live in,
Or
Take the bad medicine of what change now will do for the future.
It's like, my car's "check engine" light is on...Ignore it and ride it to the ground(short term solution)
It's going to cost me several grand to fix it or by a new car(long tem solution)
Either way, I'm paying big bucks.
I'd rather have a newer car that runs better(my personal choice)
But if you choose to go with ignoring it, pay the price(young people who don't think they will get hit by a drunk driver)

thats assuming the new car will work as promised and also that it wont break down later on...
The majority of america is in favor of health care reform maybe the politicians should start taking what the ppl want instead of what they want politically this goes for both sides right and left...

Sandra - please name one government program that ever came in under budget or did something better than the private sector at a cheaper cost?
-
I read some of these responses and I am shocked, when did Americans decide that government intervention into every aspect of their life was a good thing? And at what point did health care become a right?
Healthcare is not a right. Healthcare is a service provided by trained and licensed professionals that have to be paid for serving you. It's a service that someone has to be compensated for. That fully disqualifies it as a "right".
Liberty is a right. Free speech is a right. The right to bear arms is a right.
Healthcare is a paid service. It is not a "right".

That speech last night was pure lies, propaganda, deciet, and distortion.
Basically 10 Chicken in every pot, ten cars in every driveway, 4000 sq ft house, mercedes benz, all for free.

Thats another thing that gets under my skin is when I hear from the "it's free" crowd. Nothing is free, someone else is paying for it, you are loosing freedom/choice or both. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

That is arguing apples and oranges.
Private sector is out for the bottom line.
Government is usually to give society a hand up when times are tough.

Unless you are an illegal immigrant.

Really, the private sector may be out for the bottom line but they have to produce a product that people are willing to pay for. The government on the other hand can give what ever they want, they don't have to turn a profit all they have to worry about is being re-elected.
There is a big difference between a hand up and a hand out, the US government gives hand outs. Once they have you, you are dependent on them. Once you are dependent on them you vote in the guy that is going to give the most (other peoples money)

Why do we allow socialized education in the US? Only the rich kids should get to go. This is a slow slide into communism.
Also, let's bring back child labor and get Big Brother out of our lives.

The education system is provided by the state not the federal government as specified by the constitution. This is why most of the time I don't even bother, you take everything to the most extreme thing you can think of then don't even have a clue what you are talking about. Well done.
