Dana's such an assbag, he pretends he didn't spend all those years as a womens boxercise trainer, plus he was watching the Mayweather/Hatton PPV while sitting cageside of the Team Hughes/Serra Ultimate Finale on Dec. 8, 2007.  If you looked closely during the telecast you could seem him and Lorenzo watching boxing instead of the fights in front of him.

He always says he is a boxing fan and he admitted to watching that fight.

he generally has a good point about boxing and how the big fights are far and few between ,but he really came across as pretty ignorant in this little speech...

there's a time to let the fans judge the situations for themselves and there's a time to speak up and get your point across....

he should have just shut up about the Mayweather/Marquez PPV !

for the record this will be the first UFC ppv I've missed in 3 years because this HBO ppv has THREE pretty damned good fights on it !

Dana is a piece of shit. Who cares if you don't like PBF? Stop trying to put down every other sport to promote the UFC. Matter of fact, just shut the fuck up, period.

Does this assclown even have a plan in place in case he gets sick or croaks and can't be out promoting himself every single UFC event and taking the shine away from the fighters?  ::)

he is right about boxing though. they have that 24/7 special on hbo about mayweather getting ready for his fight and i can;t even remember the guys name he is fighting. ufc DOES do an excellent job at marketing

For me boxing's lost it's lustre in the mid-late 90's... after the Tyson/Moorer/Lewis era it just sort of went into a black hole... boxing was amazing in the late 80's , early 90's...but those days are long gone.

I just don't get how, if given the choice, anyone would choose to watch boxing over MMA.  I've seen many of Mayweather's fights.  Dana is right.  They're not fights.  It's a glorified sparring session.  There is nothing exciting about it.  While MMA does have its fair share of dull fights, there always much more excitement.  Anything could happen at any time.

This specific boxing PPV will almost certainly have more buys than UFC 103.  That will make Dana's words look a little foolish in the event that it does.  Credit that to the fact that UFC 103 has basically 2 fights with drawing power (even that is a stretch because as bad ass as Cro-cop is he still is kinda under the radar for the casual fan)  Belfort/Franklin is a bad ass match up for us die hards, but alot of newbies and TUFers fork over money to see either title fights or Forrest,Liddell,Brock,Randy and names like that.  Rich has been around for a while don't get me wrong but the last show he headlined against Silva didn't sell to well (granted it was over seas).  Swick got hurt which hurt the card also since his fight had title implications.  I don't choose boxing over MMA too often, but I will this time around.  There are actually three decent fights on the boxing PPV.  I'll catch the free UFC prelims on spike and then check out boxing.  The remaining fights i'll catch on the internet the next day for free.  As far as forking over my money, i'll go for boxing this time.  I love both sports and have trained ( still do) in both, I just think Dana picked the wrong UFC card to use as a measuring stick in a pissing contest.  Ps. fuck gayweather, Marquez is the shit (although i'll be realistic and say his chances aint too hot).

I always pick MMA over boxing. However, every now and then there is a matchup so compelling that its a no brainer to choose boxing. Marquez only has two losses, both to Pacquiao, both were questionable and many thought he won both fights. Mayweather has never lost a fight in his entire career. Marquez is ranked # 1 in Mexico and many still regard Mayweather as # 1 in the US.

The winner of this fight will undoubtedly set up a super card against Paqcuiao which IMO will shatter all PPV records currently in existance-- if Mayweather is the winner.

Some other recent fights that I personally found to be very compelling were Calzaghe and Hopkins, Pacquiao and Hatton ( although it was a huge dissipointment) and Pavlik- Hopkins.

The UFC card compared to this fight is absolute dog shit. A bunch of has beens, never wasses and no names that the casual fan couldn't care less about.

To be honest, it would take a once in a lifetime/ cant miss UFC card to get me to miss the Meywether fight on the 19th.

The only boxing event I want to see is PBF and Pac Man.  Marquez could throw a monkey wrench in those plans, though.

Actually UFCs for college boys who think they re tough, sitting there drinking beer then think they re gonna go out and prove they re tough cos they ve just watched UFC, i saw it happen in San Diego with some kid at the City Boxing gym called Connor Adams, though he was such a bad ass cos he did MMA  ::) then after a UFC card he started a fight with some black street fighter guy who knocked him cold and threw him over a first floor balcony!

LOL has anyone ever heard/ seen Eddie Murphy Raw?

Sounds exactly the way he described how Italians acted after watching the Rocky movies-- start a fight with a big black guy at the movie theater and is later found unconcious by the cops with a box of milk duds rammed up his ass.

Major truth to this! Boxing is truly about being skillful and not just a grudge match in a cage where somebody who fought two times can be a champion.(exaggerating).
I do like watching Kimbo though, but he should have made a better choice and been a boxer, that's the skill he has - his hands. More money in it and better promoters who wouldve got him smaller fights building his confidence and bank account throughout his career.
Ufc, mma, whatever, is ok, but never will it be respected like the sport of boxing. Too many legendary moments and influential people involved in it.

That Eddie Murphy routine was hilarious. ;D As a kid from the 80's growing up in NYC/NJ, I had more or less seen that type of situation happen (though not as dramatic), so it made that routine that much more funny.

I was gonna break down everything he said, point by point, but, it's not worth the energy to refute that old fool.

Then why are you spending any time at all on a MMA/UFC board?
