What is it with these guys, in the sunset of their respective careers, thinking that they can just go to MMA and dominate?
Guys like Jose Canseco, Shaquille O'Neal, Kurt Angle, Mariusz Pudzianowski, and now Van Damme, although he's doing just modified muay thai, but still, these guys can't help not concealing their mid life identity crises. It's like they think MMA is a retirement sport. It would be analogous to Chuck Liddell or Randy Couture now pursuing professional baseball or basketball.
It may be an interesting novelty, but when it sinks in you know they are just going to either suck ass or just embarrass themselves. That's the way I see it.

Kurt Angle actually has probably the most successful base an aspiring fighter can have, wrestling, and his is olympic caliber. Shaq has allegedly been training for like ten years and still couldn't throw a punch to save his life, he can barely jump over a pencil let alone win a fight. Canseco has been destroyed twice badly, hopefully that's out of his system. Van Damme is picking a fight with an ex bantamweight boxer and Muay Thai fighter, that is like 115lbs or something in that range. I guess it's like how the Dinosaurs used to head to the tarpits to die, just replace the tarpits with a cage or ring. It makes for good TV. I love wacthing them get a slice of humble pie.

yeah I'm sure I will but not with as much interest as most of the other seasons....
for one thing, mindspin posted the spoiler, and even if that did'nt happen the heavyweights usually have some crappy fights...
I really get the impression from the first episode that there's not a lot of talent this season....
