Our system sucks. I have been following politics pretty closely the last couple years. What I've noticed is the money comes from the far left and far right...so they typically don't back moderates. Who is the voice of the center? The moderate? Why are we letting political parties polarize us so much?
The media is covering less detail and focuses on more controversy. Its like entertainment. Many people have a short attention span and pay attention to extrodinary headlines, outlandish behavior, and gossip so the media caters to that. Instead of the media fact checking, holding gov officials accountable, and covering stories without bias (like real jounalists should), they focus on juicy stuff they can sensationalize.
We have talk show hosts that yell and scream, others that have disgusting insulting sarcasm.
Anytime there's something about race (as in the backlash from the Wilson outburst), the media are all over it for days. How does that help us move forward? How does that not encourage more anger on either side? Is Wilson's outbust that important that the news should be ignoring so many other important stories for a week? Its like they keep us in categories...highlight our differences so we argue and they have juicy crap to publish.
Our media and our political system has certainly lost ground over the years.

There is but fact and fiction. One group just tends to be more fiction based and orders themselves accordingly.

Look what happens here without the media filter. When facts are posted, many on this site cannot grasp them, cannot understand them and then insanely proclaim the opposite of that which is established and undeniable. Some even take the liberty to make their own facts up based on nothing but emotion and not reason and some also resort to severe distortion and misinterpretation which may also be due to poor comprehensive ability.
The fault, Dear Shootfighter, is not in our stars, but in ourselves. (at least those with the inability to comprehend a fact and to know what a proper source is)

Also define Moderate. I have no clue what that ideology (if you can even call it one) entails or how a "moderate" is classified. What specifically demarcates moderate? Is this someone who only believes fact half of the time, particularly when it suits his or her own interest?

I don`t know what the right or the left believe or what constitutes a right or a left cause. There is only one cause I believe and that is the betterment of all things on this planet, should an approach be sought and whatever best sustainable method is achievable to make our shared planet a place for all life and nature in harmony and everything contained therein. I only know fact vs. fiction. Evidence vs. Faith. Reason vs. Emotion. One "side" if you want to call it that, tends to hold sole claim to the latter in each statement rather than the former.
Care to tell me what constitutes a Right Wing cause vs. a Left Wing cause, how and why each should be viewed as such?
Myself, I am a Utilitarian fueled solely by evidence and provable results and adapting any approach based on the available data.

Which is complete bullshit...ur side or the side which u most closely resemble believes in pure emotion...u idiots feel that people are entitled to things, or whats fair. U don;t even remotely live in the real world. Those in power dictate whats fair. If u reasoned this out with facts, u'd see we can't afford all this utopian crap u want.

divide and rule... they sure in the hell don't want to many of you hanging out in the middle then you might... :o talk to eachother and agree on shit. They'll change that course as fast as possible. Some of those pesky Ron Paul supported started hanging around that dang middle and look what happened. They slinged that shit to the right so fast it gave the middle minded whiplash. Mission Accomplished Glenn Beck... Mission Accomplished....

If there is some moral parity between the left and right wing media outlets then how come, just on this section of Getbig, there's at least 2 or 3 threads on CNN or NBC or whatever BC correcting Fox publicly?

I suppose moderates or centrists can be defined in many ways. A simple component is to think independently without the party line blindness that is often seen.
I agree with you that analysis of fact is more important than anything. I am not an overly emotional person. The problem is that facts aren't always pure, in that they can be manipulated within studies or groups reporting them. There is also the issue of perspective with the same facts. What benefits one person may be harmful to another in the same situation.
Obama has manipulated a lot of data. Just look at his #s vs CBO office on overall debt, and healthcare expenses. Facts are manipulated on both sides. This is where we need more truely unbiased media. We have failed in this need. Perhaps if we didn't have a 2 party rule system, we'd stop this us vs them attitude and look more at fact and what is really best for the country without being unfair to groups of people or taking away too many freedoms.
Adonis, as much as I agree with some of your overall ideas, you are fairly partisan my friend.

Unbiased media will never exists so long as they are a business or controlled by a government.

I must admit I was never a Slayer fan, but if that is their new stuff... Phew! Megadeth did that almost 20 years ago. It's the same sound!
Either someone breaks new ground or it is doomed to go the swing route.

While we're hijacking, I just saw these guys a few weeks ago. Easily the best stuff I've heard in years.

80's thrash is still very popular.

Indeed. His name's John Boecklin. I heard "Pray For Villains" on the radio and bought the CD the next day. I bought a ticket to their show a few days after that. One of the best bands since Pantera, IMO.
