I do and find Bob Chicks practical tips/insight some of the better ones out there. I liked his last one where he talks about how "balls to the walls" psycho training may NOT be the smartest way to bodybuild in the long run. I remember legend Lee Haney always saying something similar.
I also took his advice on reg barbell squats and benches and now avoid them.
At age 50 those kind of movements are NOT worth the risk of serious injury.
If I can simply maintain the mass I have and get leaner , I will be thrilled.

People still read magazines? ???
-
LOL, very funny ;)
Ya why would we want to discuss actual training tips from a pro in a FLEX column. A bodybuilding board is so much better served with threads about "who owned who" in some pissing contest ::)
-
Let me ungay this thread. :P

Only if they can READ...that leaves a lot of you guys out I guess

Is the gel spiked hair style required for an impressive crab shot?
What would the verdict be on this in BOBservations.

Go away, Howard. I am trying to ungay your thread. Do you know how much hard work it takes to exorcise the gay out of your threads? :P

You're missing the point. There are no real "tips" in those mags. They don't really discuss how they got their physiques (drugs and their real diets). Every month, it's the same bullshit. Eat 1.5 grams of protein per body weight. You've read one mag, you've read them all. They NEVER give credit to the drugs.
If you like reading the same bullshit every month, good for you. Hell, you probably believe the "pros" really write columns, and really use minimal amounts of drugs. You choose to believe what you want, as this is your fairy tale world. Funny thing is, you start thread about being conflicted about the drug use, but continue to support this facade.
I've never had beef with you Howard, in fact, I've defended you in the past. But sometimes I wonder, if maybe you need medication....

thank you. look forward to meeting him

Thanks for ungaying this thread, Sir Humphreys.

Howard, you really aren't all there, are you?

Trust me after all these years around BB , I know all too well about the crazy aspects of the sport.
However, I do find Bob Chicks tips pretty valulable and practicle. I am old fart and still enjoy the printed page and glossy pics in my hand.

LOL, the ironic thing is that the same folks that crack on the pros for 'roid use are often the same ones that scream , how it would ruin the sport if they cut back on drugs....hmmmmmmmm.

But we don't read words from *pros* in columns. We read the words of ghost writers, mascarading as *pros.*

You mean the column written by some ghost writer?

Are you saying that "Muscular Development Magazine" should be renamed "The Collected Writings of Ron Harris, with a Prologue by Steve Blechman and a Rambling Interlude by a Brainless Oil-bag" ? ??? ??? ???

Keep living in your newbie world.

I honestly think the BOBservations column is written by Bob Chick. It sounds just like him when you speak to him at expos. Sure, some stuff is ghost written based on what they know from the pros they speak to.
If it is a good article with sound advice, who cares if Bart Blowfart actually wrote it

Because it is ripping people off. They inply that the article(s) are written buy newbie's heros, to sell more magazines, wheras they are written by authors that would not sell a magazine if it were known that they were the true authors.

Yeah, but based on Dexter's victory speeches, what other choice do we have? :'(
Ok , I have spoken with Ron Harris and some publishers about this "ghost writter issue".
What happens is they get feedback, info, etc directly from the pro (a call ) and then write it based on THAT with their own unique writting style with proper grammer, syntax, etc
Reporters often do the same thing when they write a lead for a newspaper.
Sometimes a pc gets recycled , like Arnold's training from his heyday in the 70's.
They still attribute the pc to ARNOLD however. Sure they cut/paste some training pics that were not exactly like the article , but you get the idea.
To me the real "crime" is when some top pro endorses a supplement they never use and the ad is all over the mags.
That has got to be some of the worst cases of "false/misleading" ads I ever saw.
I am honestly surprised it is legal hehehe
