I have known a number of people of both sexes like this. These people are legitimately married, divorced, or at least know each other well. The woman is on his videos as 'Buff Bay' and is searchable on Google and Facebook if you look up 'Rashida Lucas'. Perhaps everything else was a work, but they are involved outside of the show.
I'm as cynical as you are. Perhaps a little less than you, but it's appreciated because it makes a person bring an A-game. :)
