Title: Bulking does work, whats your opinion
Post by: Marty Champions on September 20, 2009, 06:39:10 AM
i think building up to a certain strength level and keeping that as your goal is the key to a correct bulk, once you attain this level of mass its best to have days of epic leans to drain the fats out of your body by eating fruit and drinking beer, the fruit is to repair you liver from drinking beer since it replaces the folic acid and vitamin c that you lose but you can still have good energy by eating fruit and drinking  beer

yes some size would be lost but fatloss would out-speed muscle loss

as u can see im weaker here and training less because its near impossible to train much on this size losing fat losing diet however , still i carry fat even when dieting but get almost ripped

fatter here more strength less cuts eating everything (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y256/honigga/IMG_0754dsw.jpg)
this is after filling out a little bit right after the diet (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y256/honigga/IMG_0420.jpg)
as u can see here abs are coming in when i do this type of fatloss but tend to quit the fatloss journey because i get that desire to train again, perhaps this diet would be great for like monday tuesday and wednesday then bulk the rest of the weak

Why not just use a diet which preserves muscle while losing fat?

Why not just use a diet which preserves muscle while losing fat?

i try
but the thing is i like to be athletic so that means i gotta be real strong especially in the legs so that means bulk style calories

even here where im pretty lean my athleticism isnt that great because i was just dieting hard
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y256/honigga/IMG_0433.jpg)

i just want to reach a certain level of athleticism then do short diet periods durin g the week

right now i hope to attain 100 reps per day with the 245 dumbell on my deadlift/squat lift. last night for the first time i got 40 reps broken into sets with around 800 solid punches to keep upper body mass

if i can routinely attain 100 reps at 245 pounds broken into a few sets and accomplish this under 20 minutes on my monster dumbell then id say ive acheived progress and better athleticism

For naturals, there's not much point. Your hormone levels are going to be at a better ratio/balance at a lower bodyfat. I think that strength levels can be maintained whilst "dieting" or on lower calories by maintaining good nutritional balance and avoiding living in the gym 24/7. Listening to your body and aiming to make strength gains or appreciable rep increases will help you improve and you will find that due to the lack of calories, glycogen and in turn energy reserves will be lower in general but I figured out that cutting down the amount of times I worked out allowed me to compensate and come into the gym feeling strong every time.

but worrying about low bodyfat means longer recovery time thus you cant train as often wich you said also, you also miss out on tons of food, you bust only 1 or 2 nuts a day instead of 4-5 on bulking diets

i do think that we should try to mass up our bodies for 5 days straight doing favorite heavy liftings then a breif 2-3 day cute

I don't think some of the new people here know how good johnny falcon's genetics are.

the falcon possesses the ability to flourish like this at a moment's notice.

for looks that is

when being fat and having more power i can jump higher and have much higher sex drive

thats why i say i need to have more discipline and at least 2 days out of the week aim for a fruit and beer fat cleansing

You're still looking good JF.  Not MGB1 good, but good.

Imo a steady diet and workout approach is superior for middle aged guys like us.

the only way i can look as good as in mgb1 is to either spend 3 hours a day training or lift alot heavier wich means alot more calories and im already eating a ton and shittin alot :)

right now im just trying to lift as heavy as i can

back in mgb1 i was also eating meat so i think im ok for that lack of type of protien and iron in my diet, i feel like im avoiding some potential cancers while not sacrificing too much size

do you guys think that doing over an hour of cardio a day is harmfull to your muscles?

hell no all that will do is stimulate your need for more calories to repair

if you dont feed and just sleep off the worn out feeling from cardio you lose muscle and more fat

if you do feed the worn out feeling you gain more muscle and some fat

I agree with you about excessive meat & protein.  Btw I only drink goat milk these days.  It's much stronger flavored and takes some getting used to, but try it for a couple weeks and you'll never go back to cow's milk.

I've heard cow's milk proteins can cause gut trouble which are frequently blamed on lactose intolerance but actually have to do with protein intolerance.  I never have any stomach issues with goat milk.

That still doesn't mean these short diet periods can't be as muscle preserving as possible.
