Do you remember the first muscle man you admired? Who was it? How old were you? Now that you have some perspective, what do you think of the physique he had back then? Pix?
For me, it was Ivan Putski and Billy Graham! I was in third grade (I remember because we had a black and white TV back then). I still think they looked awesome! :D :P

I saw a clip of Arnold from Pumping Iron. The part where he does concentration curls.
He looked absolutely mind boggling to me then.

I think I was like 8 I saw a Muscle and fitness mag with Arnold on the cover for the movie Predator and I begged my dad to buy it for me... I still have it too.

Besides seeing arnie on the big screen. It will be Paul Demayo featured in my 1st musclemag.
-
for me it was around 1980-81 in me and my sister's room my dad plastured pics of Serge Nubret and Frank Zane on the wall. I had Muscle and Fitness mags around 84 too. I also went and lifted weights with him in a local gym when I was little like 8-10 yo.

arnold offcourse, aside from having tons of muscle he had what real men suppose to have, yes height. something these little pro bitches of today lack.

actually, the main kid from No Retreat No Surrender. For some reason , I thought when he got "huge" that he was the biggest man to ever walk the earth.
-
What exactly do you mean by "admire?"
It's the equivalency of us heterosexuals talking about our first "crush"

you know this would have gotten a rise from me

i haven't seen the movie since i was a kid, so i don't remember all of it, but i remember the main guy being a loser in the beginning and at the end just being ripped and kicking ass. i'm guessing he just wore a loose shirt the first half of the movie.

"My first muscle" was looking at Vince Goodrum on an internet forum.
I was shocked at the level of muscle, hardness and striations. I simply wanted to devote my life and energy to look like that.
Now I am here, 10 years later.. I got a college degree, pletty of hot girls but no Goodrum physique :(

did his bare chest give you a funny rumbling in your tummy?
-
The ghey is strong in this thread... boys & "muscle worshipping" (oh brother).. look who started this thread...
;D
To bring up the gayness even higher, my dad was actually the first muscle "man" I admired.. we all have that Arnoldesque face structure me the less, my dad the most but with glasses and darker hair.. shit my dad even had the crack between his front teeth... which arnold got "fixed"... I remember being at the mall and people stopping us to tell my dad he looked like Chris Reeve/Conan... to shake the gay out he grew a giant police stache and it was the end of it.. but the biceps on the old man were legendary.. strong mofo, when I finally ipponed his ass on the tatami it was legendary (well not so much, I was like 17 and he sorta "let me")...
Moral of the story, muscle worshipping in the familify fies better and lessers the ghey...
-

"But sir, it may not be safe for consumption.."

So, what you're saying is it wasn't a choice, right? :D
-
a "muscle man" has never inspired me but the training footage in Rocky II (with the music and Mighty Mick) definitely motivated me to train.

As a kid, I'd watch cartoons like hercules and Rocket Robinhood. Herc would put on his ring and fight the bad guys. He was huge. Robin Hood and Little John beating up the sheriff's guys was also entertaining. As I hit highschool and actually began working out, my first real non cartoon muscle guys I wanted to look like were pro wrestlers. Guys like Tony Atlas, the Dynamite Kid, Paul Roma, the ultimate warrior ect. They looked absolutely unreal and ripped. Of course once training seriously, and buying magazines, it was Arnold. He looked good from every angle unlike the bloated water bags they have today.
