Title: Paranormal Activity
Post by: Earl1972 on October 08, 2009, 07:59:27 PM
anybody see this?  supposed to be scary as fuck

apparently a million people have to go "demand" it on their website before it can open nationwide

seems like it might be this decades "blair witch project" which i thought was really good

showing up the street from me.  Might see it on Monday.  DOubt it will be really scarey, most times they just have startling moments.  There hasn't been a good scarey movie out in years.

Looks sort of shite, but I'm interested on how the campaign works out.

Awsome movie.  It was much better then i expected and everyone in the theater was jumping at certain times.  Once it ended, everyone was calling and texting their friends to go see it.  I highly recommend it.  Its nothing that screams Oscar but it is a good time.

I can't believe it. Why and HOW is something that is so predictable that I can watch on Syfy so good that I have to see it? I'm being sincere. I can't see anything that would make me want to see it. I imagine Hollywood is going to start this stealth promotion crap now. :(

it was entertaining.  the chick had a nice rack, although they never showed it.

just watched a dvd screener

very good movie, has you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end

creepy for sure but i don't see how people actually screamed while watching it, i guess not everybody can be as tough and masculine as me 8)

apparently the ending is different than the theatrical ending so i still want to see it in theaters

i preferred blair witch but it takes more of an imagination to like that movie, i think people will enjoy this more

just saw the theater ending

much worse than the original ending which i thought was very clever and more creepy, the movie seemed real and original but this theatrical ending killed that

most seem to prefer this ending, probably the same people that think of "i know what you did last summer" as a good horror movie ::)

i hear steven spielberg changed the ending, he has a history of knowing what the majority will like

Sounds good. I'll watch it over the next couple of weeks sometime.

I saw Orphan, which was quite decent. It's classified as horror, but I think it's more of a thriller. Worth watching once.

Sort of a slightly more disturbing and violent version of "The good son", with a good twist in the end.

The wife just scored a bootleg copy on DVD so I'll be watching it in the next day or so...

I heard it's pretty good so I'm definitely curious to watch it.

                                                                   ***SPOILERS BELOW!***

Just got back from seeing it and it shook me pretty good, especially that ending. There aren't too many horror films that really "scare" me, per se, but this one and the similar Blair Witch did. I especially liked the scenes where Katie just stood staring at Micah for hours on end while he slept. Very clever. The producers did with one $15K film what other directors couldn't achieve with several big-budget clunkers.

Just downloaded this piece of steaming shit and I'm so glad I didn't spend one penny on this movie. Thank god it's a re writable cd as well cause I'd be pissed off that I wasted a disc for this overhyped fucking fly food.

Jumping at what exactly? Or are you just regurgitating the scenes from the commercials? Just what was was so fucking scary that people shit themselves because I can't for the life of me figure it out.

Saw it and liked it. One of those movies that sticks to the back of your mind.

SPOILERS:

The ending that I saw was her coming up the stairs after killing Micah, sitting on the floor and rocking back and forth for almost 1.5 days until the cops found her. Didn't quite get why the cops had to kill her. Why not just wound her or shoot her in the leg?

The theater version is her throwing Micah's body at the camera and getting a creepy up close shot of her face. Haven't seen this version but I want to.

The third alternative ending is her slicing her own throat while facing the camera.

The DVD will probably show all three endings.

the ending you saw is much better imo, the theater ending is corny and unoriginal, you can see it on youtube unless it was taken down

if you discover a murdered body in a house, go upstairs and find a person with a bloody shirt waking towards you holding a knife, you shoot to kill that person

I know but it's a young woman in a wife beater tank top with big tits. Walking slowly towards the cops, mind you. I would have shot her in the leg. If it was dude I would have shot him in the head.

Just saw this and it was OK.

Earl, not sure if you've seen The fourth kind. It's pretty good and has some scary moments. I'd say it's a much better flick than PA. Watch it if you get a chance.

Haha I downloaded it ages ago, but never got around to seeing it until today. Totally forgot about it. It was good and had some tense moments, but not exactly the scariest flick I've seen.

And yeah, do check out The fourth kind. I thought it was quite nicely done. People compare it to Fire in the sky, which is supposed to be pretty scary too.

Another movie I (re)watched recently is The skeleton key - a decent horror movie worth watching.

The 4th Kind was slow, boring and weakly-acted, IMO.

I was gonna check out Daybreakers, but decided not to.

Orphan was pretty good. Isabelle Fuhrman was excellent.

I think everyone should watch it just to see the "real" "Abigail Tyler" and hear the freaky Sumerian alien speak, lol

Not scary, the best part was the very last scene. I don't like watching 1.5 hours of crap for an ok 2 minute ending.
