Sima Samar, women's rights activist in Afghanistan: "With dogged persistence and at great personal risk, she kept her schools and clinics open in Afghanistan even during the most repressive days of the Taliban regime, whose laws prohibited the education of girls past the age of eight. When the Taliban fell, Samar returned to Kabul and accepted the post of Minister for Women's Affairs."

Ingrid Betancourt: French-Colombian ex-hostage held for six years.

"Dr. Denis Mukwege: Doctor, founder and head of Panzi Hospital in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo. He has dedicated his life to helping Congolese women and girls who are victims of gang rape and brutal sexual violence."

Handicap International and Cluster Munition Coalition: "These organizations are recognized for their consistently serious efforts to clean up cluster bombs, also known as land mines. Innocent civilians are regularly killed worldwide because the unseen bombs explode when stepped upon."

"Hu Jia, a human rights activist and an outspoken critic of the Chinese government, who was sentenced last year to a three-and-a-half-year prison term for 'inciting subversion of state power.'"

"Wei Jingsheng, who spent 17 years in Chinese prisons for urging reforms of China's communist system. He now lives in the United States."

Thats my vote...we watched the Taliban attack a school near us at Bagram..they failed but a few weeks later they burnt another girls school to the ground. Even her peers don;t believe in whats she's doing really. This woman is a hero to her people and studies have shown that when woman are educated society progresses less violently.

3366 and HH6, great to see you give Betancourt and Simar Samar credit.

Very nice.

I am with you 100 percent in that these two humanitarians deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

Great examples for the rest of us.

Serious- that is what the award is supposed to be about.

Those women risked life and death to do what they did.

I thought this list wasn't going to be released for 50 years as per Nobel rules?

What you're reading is a list of people the weekly standard thought were more deserving.

The list is kept secret, but that doesn't mean we don't know some.  Some are nominated and then the nominators issue a press release announcing it.  But, the comprehensive list won't be available for 50 or so years.

The bottom line, and cutting through all the spin and BS, is that this year the Nobel committee completely disgraced the legacy, meaning, and future value, of this award.

This is why Obama was given the Nobel as well as gets all of this praise essentially for doing nothing...well maybe giving away TRILLIONS of taxpayers money.

The fact of the matter is that Obama is loved by these international banksters and NWO types because he is doing their bidding.

I posted this video before - and it is worth looking at again.  Mind you - this was before a lot of the money printing that went into full force.

KRS One is spot on.  Watch this video and understand what he is saying.
