WTF? ???
I don't even believe Health care is a right.... Am I just a backward man?

Pondering the question means you still have a chance. ;)

The only rights an individual should be entitled to, are the basic rights of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Other then that, it should be up to the individual. I can't comprehend how these kind of services provided can now be considered a right? ???

i'm pretty sure we don't even have a right to education here

As long as you're a legal citizen, pay your taxes, and keep your nose clean, you have rights. That's my opinion. :)

Nice 8)
Seriously though, I changed my mind. On top of my up coming health care "rights", I also want the right to eat prime rib, and the right to workout for free.

Maybe that is why the Finns are on the forefront when it comes to things like Communication and Internet?
Finland was one of the first countries in the Western world, if not the first, to have more Mobile phones than regular phones.
This was all the way back in 1999.
Ten years ago - way before a lot of people in other countries even knew what a "mobile phone" was.
You know, back in the days when everyone used the term "cell phone". ;)

well, but soon we're going to be bringing them the gift of democracy
Unlikely - I don't think they have much oil.
But seriously those Scandinavian countries lean heavily towards socialism and the welfare state. I can see them making this a "right".

The argument could be made that information is widely available on the internet.
And that if groups are excluded from it, there is a risk of a democracy gap.
Between those with internet access and those without.
If internet is seen as a "right", the society will be constructed to include everyone into it.
At least that is what the proponents of Pro Internet laws argues.
I tend to be in favor of legislation that opens up communication.
IMO, the Finns will continue to reap the benefits from this.
Because it's not like what they did with the Mobile phones haven't paid off.
