A new poll from Gallup reveals that Sarah Palin's approval rating has plummeted to an all-time low.
According to the survey, the former vice presidential candidate maintains a 40% favorability rating, the lowest it has been since she emerged as a national political figure at last year's Republican convention. Over the course of Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) presidential campaign Palin's "image suffered," declining from a 53% rating when she debuted as the senator's running mate to a 42% rating by the end of the campaign.
Gallup's findings emerge in light of the highly-anticipated release of Palin's memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life." Buzz in the political realm suggests that Palin could run for president in 2012, but it seems that the conservative sensation faces a steep upward battle to broaden her viability and appeal.

like i said many times, it is largely dependant on the economy at the time. If we are still at 10% UE, oil over 100 a barrell, etc, Palin will DEMOLISH ******* if she comes together with a low tax, domestic energy, pro industry and production agenda.

obama hired him to be the chinese finance guy earlier this year. Many think it was to keep him out of the 2012 race. But all he has to do is quit that post in 2011 and start his campaign. The stuff he'd have learned dealing with china, holding this all together... man, he's a stud for 2012.

no, that's the thing here. I talked about it on getbig back when it was big news that he bought huntsman2012.com or something like that. A week later, Obama offers him this finance job in china. Lots of people saw this as Obama trying to prevent him from running in 2012.
I don't want obama to run against a marginally-qualified candidate like palin. I want someone like this guy - who can run a state (governor), doesn't need the money, and knows finance reallllllllly well, which this guy does. I want the GOP 2012 candidate to be HIGHLy qualified. America wins when the best person wins the election.

Additionally, Im not comparing Palin to anyone else, but Bill Gates and many other very successful people never went to college or excelled early in life. Some people are late starters.
I did not do well on my math SAT but graduated college 3.96 GPA, and passed the bar exam first time and graduated in the top 5% of my class in law school.
Someones' high school GPA is not the end all and be all for me.

Or even the nomination of his party? My knowledge of American history is fairly good, but I may be overlooking precedent for this. :-\

Undoubtedly this would be hammered home by Pawlenty, Romney, and co., during a primary run by your man Huntsman. Not to mention the tag of "power hungry opportunist" that would be hung over his head by quitting a job a year out to run for president, and that it takes much longer than that to organize a presidential run. He'd have to start the organizing/fundraising process while still carrying out the duties of his job as laid out for him by President Obama.
I think your hopes may be dashed by some obvious problems in your logic.
