branch is a freak but i dont think you want an unhealthy looking guy as mr o, his body screams tons of juice and bad health.
however jay is not a much better rep though. he got laughed about as well. maybe the fact that black guys do it well in bbing shows is that their bad health doesnt really show through their skin and look more sportive.

I wonder if in another dimension, discussing oiled up, hyper-muscular men-in-thongs, is considered hetero?

It's a good question 240 and unfortunately I honestly think that they would have given Dexter the win.

It's a tough call. A Mr O with awesome quads and calves is pretty cool. Also the hard working/blue collar stuff seems to appeal to people. Branch's arms came up loads this year but still look pretty bad in some shots. Maybe if Dexter would just embrace size a little more and get a massive chest and get his calf implants back, like Victor, he could get the O back too?

In the back "relaxed shots" I have to say Dexter destroyed everyone. His relative lack of big pointless mass in the back lat spread seems less imnportant than all the cuts Cutler is missing, but Jay's front was so much better than everyone's it would have been a tough call giving e repeat O to someone with no claves, decreased quad size and giving up 30lb to most guys on stage. Where's Ronnie when you need him? He has Jay's size and Dex's black guy genetics!

Without Jay, the call outs wouldve been different.

I'd have to see the prejudging scores, but I think Branch was in 4th after prejudging. I don't see him climbing all the way up to first place after being 4th on Friday.

If Jay was absent, and @ the prejudging Phil looked like he did on Saturday night, prejudging wouldve been very different.....and Heath wouldve won the show

Branch won because he is all man. Judges wanted to reward the return to hypermasculine. They will next year as well.

I will say this, now that Branch has been 2nd place, the judges will not have a problem giving him 1st place in the future (if deserving)

i dont like dex but i agree.  branch doesnt have the genetics to be in the top 5, regardless of how good conditioned he is.

its funny, some guys get weighed very heavily based on their condition (victor, wolf) and other guys it really doesnt matter if they come in diced or not (jay, troy)

Its bodybulding, not a dehydration contest.  conditioning shouldnt be weighed so heavily

As previously stated by Special Ed, at no time will AMI/Weider Publishing cede control over Joe Weider's Mr. Olympia title. This has been confirmed by Dexter, Toney and several other 'in the know' industry people. Furthermore, a Weider-endorsed Dennis Wolf does not place 16th. Ever!
