How big was the original Gold's Gym? I remember driving past it when I was kid. I've been a member at every Golds gym exept that one. I thought I remember someone saying it was only like a 1000sq ft.

the original Golds was at 1006 Pacific Ave, Venice CA 90291
its currently a residence, and zillow.com (http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1006-Pacific-Ave-Venice-CA-90291/20450050_zpid/) lists the entire building at 3435 square feet, the size of the lot is 3800 square feet. How much of that was usable gym space back in 1965, I don't know.

I see where golds was but it doesn't look like 3400 sqft. I wonder if thats the block from golds to the corner building?

Heres what Ken Sprague said on ironage.
"Incidentally, the building was 45 feet wide x 70 feet deep---16' high ceilings in the gym area. Including the upstairs locker rooms and showers, the mecca did not exceed 3500 square feet of floor space."
