Title: The Most Disingenuous 3RD place winner....
Post by: lax on October 26, 2009, 11:06:56 AM
...is Dexter Jackson.

According to Samir bannout:

'...I heard that one champion was offered help by Frank Zane himself and he did not think it was important that he take the help. When I heard that, I could just NOT believe it! This crazy guy has just wasted an opportunity by not acting on this great and incredible offer...I want to call this guy a BIG FOOL...(FZ: could this be why he placed 3rd at this year's Olympia?)...I sure hope he reads this sometime...I recall Lee Labrada...one of the most intelligent bb's....drove all the way to Zane's Palm Springs center to work with him in 1988...it served him very well.'

what expertise? dex's condition is miles ahead of the swimmer's. dex may not get 3 as zane but really, who was zanes competition? dex has fifty pounds at least on zane and condition that the "scientist" could only dream of.

Zane has been, for the most part, "off the grid" for a while.

If he worked with Dexter, it would bring up his stock considerably.  he'd be able to claim part of dex's finish was his work.

it's not like football, where Dan Marino could show Chad Henne tips on responding better to defenses.  We're talking 30 years later.  It's all a chemical game now.

I didn't know that zero percent of people earning big money are pro bodybuilding fans.

Labrada never won the Mr Olympia.  Dexter won the Mr Olympia and was working with the person who helped get him there in the first place.  If Samir said that, then he's the one that's the fool.

Don't know what the name of my company has anything to do with it but Dexter's choices in advisors paid off for him big time so why would he abandon his team after they helped him win the Mr Olympia.

Dexter is a veteran, he's a Mr Olympia and 3 time Arnold Classic Champion along with being the GNC SOS champion.  I think he knows what he's doing.... ::)

Vince do you sale the Zane leg blaster?

I sell the Body-Solid Leverage Squat Calf Machine for 599.00 with free shipping which is 300 dollars less than a Zane Leg Blaster and that's not counting his shipping fees.  The Leg Blaster is very compact but you can't do any serious leg training on it

I'm a big fan of Zane and I understand why he created the machine but the Bodysolid option is better for customers and clients of personal trainers and many need to have a machine that can pack on the weight plates

zane's is designed so you don't blow out your back

many of you have not been training long enough to incur serious, chronic injury....you will see.

Most personal trainers need an all around unit for training a variety of athletes AND clients.  This machine has a number of safety features to prevent serious or chronic injury.  Again, I understand why Zane created the device but the number of clients that would benefit from it would be very far and few.

agreed, the only benefit would be for a public relations stunt for the both of them. In that regards it could have worked good for Dexter, aligning himself with a famous name for symetry and aesthetics. This would only re-inforce his legacy. He should have done it. WOuld also have made him more mainstream to old school and traditional fans.

Agreed.
I don't see how Zane saying he trained the #3 Bber in the world would be a bad thing for him, even if his clients don't read FLEX (although BBing fans span the rich as well)

when he's making a sell, it cannot hurt his cause to be able to pull "you know, I just trained one of the top 3 bodybuilders IN THE WORLD"

If he's selling to an old lady, he doesn't have to bring up Dex.  But if a client is looking to muscle up, and he's just not sure, Zane would be able to mention "I was just talking to Dex about this over the lunch I designed for him a week out from the O..."

pros are not his market

many of the people 'in his market' do pick up a muscle magazine every now and then.  Doctors and lawyers look in the mirror with the same self-doubt as the 14 year old skinny kid.  It's just a much nicer mirror.

And if they've read a single muscle mag in the last 10 years, they are probably familiar with Dex's name.
