Myth. If they are in-shell for you to huck, then go to town. :)

I fucking love em. I consumed some in 2004 that put me in the hospital with brutal food poisoning. Eat them the right time of year. The rule is only to eat them in months that end in R. They're typically fresher in those months.

Dude, unless the place is getting them right off the boat that harvested them, than I wouldn't eat them raw. I live where we get them right off the boat still in the shell and I still don't eat them certain times of the year when mercury levels are higher in the water.

Who cares? Blood cholesterol is influenced mostly by dietary saturated fat and trans fat, not dietary cholesterol. Plus, blood cholesterol is only one of about a dozen independant risk factors that determine if you get heart disease or not. ::)

Your liver makes most of the cholesterol in your blood.

Since he's so concerned about cholesterol, maybe Coach should have his liver removed then!

Don't know, how much can the oyster bench ???
-
Great with cocktail sauce, Tabasco, and lemon juice - raw or occasionally fried. Fried is also good on a "Po-Boy", particularly in combination with other seafood such as fried shrimp, frog legs (taste like chicken), crab, etc. Again, condiments like cocktail sauce, Tabasco, lemon, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, spicy mustard, tartar sauce, etc really compliment them when fried.

I live on the coast of florida and eat them fresh off the boat weekly during the winter months. I don't really care if they are good for me or not, they are so delicious ;D.
