Title: Youngblood
Post by: Original Sin on November 04, 2009, 09:47:09 PM
Not sobered up yet... don't see that happening anytime soon.  (thank god for spell check)

The best of Stevie Ray, for me anyway...

We'll start from here.

This is one of those songs that I can set on a loop and just cry the world away too...
anybody else have one of these??
Ladies??

Wow, my own thread!!! ;D ;)

I don't think I can pinpoint any one song, and certainly not one for crying or being depressed. I listen to so much variety, so if you wanna go on an adventure, here's a sprinkling of what you could find on my stereo at any given moment:

Listen to what he does around 2:15

[/youtube]

Listen to him around 3:30...I'm one of the two guys around these parts that can play that song in any form...but it's always better extended out! ;D

And finally (believe it or not, I'm cutting it short!), because the previous two posts were SRV when I made this, it seems only fitting:

A lot of black metal for a sunny California boy.
No, John Lee Hooker?  tsk tsk

Told you I cut it short, and I also couldn't find any decent JLH anywhere when I searched. His stuff is usually pretty similar, with minor variations that most people unless they played or were what you would call "blues nazi's" would not pick up on.
It's a short list...sue me.

the real adventure would be sitting with the guitar man known as Youngblood and having him play for you

Being depressed is what the blues are all about....

Here is my fav "pick me up" song.

I so love to dance to this one.

So you must have one of these songs?

Fat Possum Records has all your blues needs, based in Oxford, Mississippi. One of their artists is a familiar yet quite underground (really, underground--he died in 2005). His name is R.L. Burnside. Real old skool. Has some nice stuff on YouTube

RL was really good for the back porch kind of blues- Mississippi blues was his thing.
If you want great blues records, there's two places that I HIGHLY recommend; Downhome Music in El Cerrito, and BlueBeat Music near Santa Cruz.

Both will satisfy your insatiable blues cravings. But you're warned, while they do cater to modern blues, they're based in RL Burnside type stuff. Traditional roots music is "modern" for them.

I'm bored, so I thought "What the hell, I'll continue this thread with a bit more of my diverse musical listenings/ramblings!"

Johnny Nash hit...he was a two hit wonder!

Desmond Dekker...meets a Mariachi band! :P

Johnny Cash's daughter, Roseanne...

Danny Gatton...R.I.P.

This Man is just ridiculous, though there is not much out on video (especially YouTube) to show it

Everybody Wants You!

Believe it or not, my first album!

The man that changed the history of guitar...Charlie Christian

Out of tune, but it's got a groove and well, he deserves no introduction!

A band that was very short lived!

And to finish off, The Students....
