The heroic policewoman who shot an army psychiatrist during a murderous gun rampage at an army base was today named as Sergeant Kimberly Munley.
She had been on routine traffic patrol when Major Nidal Malik Hasan entered a medical centre at Ford Hood, Texas, shouted 'Allahu Akbar' (God is greatest) and opened fire.
It took just three minutes for the slightly built mother-of-one to get to the scene, engaging the killer in a ferocious gun battle. Witnesses said a bullet from Hasan's gun passed through both Sgt Munley's legs. But despite her injuries, she continued firing at the soldier, hitting him four times before he was disabled.
The death toll sands at 13 with 30 others wounded. But senior officers believe the tragedy would have been much worse without Sgt Munley's actions.
Lt. Gen. Bob Cone described her actions as 'amazing and aggressive'. 'She was quite effective, one of our most impressive young policemen,' he added. 'She walked up and basically engaged him. I think, certainly, this could've been far worse.'
The sergeant is making a good recovery at a community hospital in the nearby town of Killeen where she lives with her young daughter, Jayden.

The hero cop who ended the bloody rampage at Fort Hood by pumping four bullets into the crazed gunman even though she was wounded is known for her toughness, friends say.
Before relocating to Texas, civilian police Sgt. Kimberly Munley spent about five years as a cop in North Carolina where she forged a reputation as a no-nonsense officer.
"I'd like to say I'm surprised, but I'm really not," said close friend Drew Peterson, 27.
"She was born and bred to be a police officer. If you were ever to be in a fight, she'd be the first person to stand up next to you and back you up. She's a tough cookie."
Munley's toughness and grace under pressure were on display Thursday when she and her partner responded within three minutes of reported gunfire, said Army Lt. Gen. Bob Cone.
Munley, who had been trained in active-response tactics, rushed into the building and confronted the shooter as he was turning a corner, Cone said.
"It was an amazing and an aggressive performance by this police officer," Cone said.
Munley was only a few feet from Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan when she opened fire.
Wounded in the exchange of bullets, the 34-year-old Munley was reported in stable condition at a local hospital.
In a posting on her Twitter page before the shooting, she wrote: "I live a good life....a hard one, but I go to sleep peacefully @ night knowing that I may have made a difference in someone's life."
Munley's brother Daniel Barbour told ABC News that his sister had been shot three times in the hand and the leg.
One of the bullets pierced an artery, requiring her to undergo surgery Friday.
The diminutive Munley - she stands 5-foot-4 and weighs about 120 pounds - served as a cop in Wrightsville Beach,
N.C., before she moved to Texas to enlist in the military, friends said.
She is married with two daughters and is no longer in the armed forces.
"She's the happiest, sweetest, most fun-loving girl you'd ever want to be friends with - and never want to cross," Peterson said.
The hero cop spent Thursday night phoning fellow officers to let them know she was fine and to find out about casualties in the attack - the deadliest ever on a military base in the U.S., Cone said.
Cone said Munley's aggressive response training taught her that "if you act aggressively to take out a shooter you will have less fatalities."
"She walked up and engaged him," he said. He praised her as "one of our most impressive young police officers."

I used to have an office literally next door to them in a clients' office who was a large painting contractor. We had paint spilling over on to their property and they had this little pitbull attorney come over and try to intimidate me.
We worked it out, but the plant is in a very out of the way place. Its literally like a minute over the NYC border, but you couldnt find it if i paid you.

I am not PSYCHIC...but damnit it is the same pattern of behavior over and over and over: Columbine, Virginia Tech, I forgot the name of the university in New Jersey, Oklahoma City, 911 supposed hijackers many of whom are still alive etc etc. It is the same damn thing every time. What does your question have to do whith the issue at hand? Your america women would be better of trying to be a wife, a woman and a mother rather than trying to grow a dick between her legs. American men spend too much time arguing with their female counterpart, too much time in divorce court and way too much time try to please a woman when it is he job to please you and the family.
For the record...even a child given the right situation can shoot a gun and kill someone...you have plenty of cases of that in america as well (sadly). Is that some great accomplishment for a woman in america? I think an american woman's greatest acccomplishhment would be to have dinner ready when her husband gets home and help the children with their homework and development.

My issue is the sincerity of the case. There is something vile and wrong here. Something grossly untrue...It is too staged feeling and it was done for some reason which I have not and can not exactly put my finger on. Reminds me of that scene in the Manchurian Candidate where the mind control experiments had military men killing one another just to prove how good the mind control system works. Now I am not saying that is what this is, but something very strange/wrong is going on here.

That was a movie and ur an idiot. I never thought Lynch was a hero nor thought Tillman was anything beyond a soldier who did his job. We fucked up on Tillman thats it. Lynch was used by elements of the civilian establishment ...the DOD especially the uniformed ones weren't thrilled with her, her unit or the whole rescue mission.
