Blackberry = solid. Android is Verizon's first big open developement device. Thousands of more apps than BB's App World. Google Market is unbelievable. Androind on Verizon's network will be big.

that is supposedly one of the things the droid has over the iphone it runs alot of its stuff off google as it is connected to it directly so there isnt a need to purchase extra ish or pay extra for certain services as you can acquire them through google.

Haha oh brother.  ::)

I've still got my old beat-up Motorola V3 - the screen is smashed, and there's cellotape over it but as long as I can make calls and send the occasional text I couldn't care less.

Droid has Google Maps with GPS pre-installed for free. It has 'street view' which shows the actual view from the street instead of a map - SICK!!

completely agree.

the phone companies have cashed in really well with mobiles. at one time, people talked on the phone when they were home, or had their answering machines get messages. then called people back. it wasnt a problem.

now, 10 year old kids "need" to be contact-able immediately...i mean, wtf?!

and SMS was a mechanism to message a group of people at the price of one call. Now it's used for everything. it blows my mind that someone would SMS someone with a 1-10 word message, then go back and forth dozens of times when it couldve been done in a single 30 second phonecall.

yes, mobile phone envy is veri definitely fucked up.

Regardless of whether anyone thinks they're necessary or not, the Droid is a beast of a phone.  If I wasn't locked into my Storm contract for another year, I'd definitely get it.

Yes. The OS is made by Google. Everything (contacts, apps, etc) is backed up via Gmail. This device is pimp

I got mine yesterday and its a pretty sweet phone. In the past year i have had the curve, storm, omnia and samsung i 760 (company pays for any phone i want) and this is by far the best one i have had.

I work for an internet company and live on my phone all day long, so i want one that is fun as well as useful (outlook, good browser, etc).  All the stuff on it makes it just plain fun to use on a day to day basis.  Do you need all of it, fuk no, but its fun to have none the less.

The app world is awesome, graphics awesome, fun to play with while on the shitter awsome, just another Toy to play with.

Easily the best phone that Verizon has.

I am not a fan of the Storm at all.  I had it for about 2 months and the e-mails killed me.  It never synced with our company server well so it always delayed the message as well as never showed what was viewed at work, on the phone.  I would have to manually delete all the e-mails or mark open.

Real pain.  The android is by far much better then the storm.

I also still have my curve for work, just because i have to be on call, and that serves all the BB functions.

Anyone i have talked to who has the G1 says its a huge upgrade from that platform but I personally have not used it, so don't know how it differs.

Droid is a great phone. One thing the iphone has over all the phones out there, is the web browser. When the web browser gets at least at good as the iphone's browser. I will switch.
Which im guessing that isn't too far way. Since the OS is open source.

The only difference I notice is the 5.0 megapixel as opposed to G1's 3.2

Good point, the mobile phone industry did a phenomenal job of creating a "need" that is completely unnecessary! A cell phone is a want not a need but clever advertising changed all of that.
15 years ago we got along just fine with no cell phones. Now we HAVE to have one for bullshit chit chat and useless information.
Uhh,  bbl my Iphone is ringing  :-\

Picked up the Droid last friday.  Kick ass phone.  The apps are awesome... and there are tons of them.    There is one that lets you scan in your different "cards" (like your gnc gold card, your grocery store card, etc etc).  Then you just scan your phone when youre at whatever place!

Apps are wild.

I'm not a douche that has to buy the "latest gadget".  I actually have a life and don't need to spend all day taping a touchscreen on a phone.  These iphone owners are such anti-social douches.  But they do have 30000 friends on facebook and no friends in real life.

Question, does the iphone or any phone out there have a bittorrent app?
There working on some web based ones, and there is one if you jail break that i know of.
IMO i wouldn't used any of them. bittorrent on a phone seems dumb.
