Title: Question for anyone supporting Health Care Reform,
Post by: Soul Crusher on November 07, 2009, 12:24:06 PM
Can someone please explain to me exactly how Pelosi's bill will bring down the costs of health care?

Can someone show me the exact section, pragraph, clause, etc that will be responsible for lowering my premiums?

Can someone show me what is stop my carrier from raising my rates massively to accomodate all the new mandates?

I have reviewed the bill and see absolutely nothing backing up the claims of Obama and Pelosi that this will will do anything but result in higher taxes, rationing, and lost jobs.

do you have a link to the bill?

is it true that for every 500,000 someone makes they are taxed an extra 5% to pay for this shit?

is it true that business owners will be taxed 8% of their profits if they don't pay full insurance on employees?  what about employees' families are employers expected to pay for them or not?

1.  Small business has to pay at least 73% or they are hit with the tax.

2.  Tax increases i think hit every over 250k

3.  500 billion cut from medicare.

4.  Tax hikes on medical device makers, drug companies, and insurance companies.

1. thanks, do you know if it is to extend to family members or just the employee?

2. at 5% per 250,000?  ridiculous

3.  and 4. how the hell do they think these are going to help?  and you place tax hikes on 4 who do they think will end up paying for it ::)

If she gets everything she wants then I would imagine that eventually the public option would become dominant and the government will just say this is what were reimbursing - end of story.  Of course, that leads to the question of declining quality.  I doubt medicine will attract the best and brightest.

No easy answers and I'm still battling my own demons with the morality issue (do we have a moral obligation to help each other with healthcare).

Probably wouldn't even be an issue if Bush had addressed serious reform when he had the ability to.  Now we may be stuck with a really bad system.

We already do on the state and federal level via medicaid.

oh come on you weiners....yes it's going to cost, but the rich can afford it.....and plus it just about covers every American with healthcare...all you guys think about is money....think about how many human lives will be saved....this is a great country..we can't afford to have people not have access to healthcare...besides.... what people like 3333 don't tell you is that due to the poor and lower middle class being able to go to the doctor early to treat disease or ailments early, it saves tons of money since they won't be going to the emergency rooms in the future in an advanced state of decline due to illness which at that point it would be even more expensive to treat them....they would have to be admitted to long hospital stays and/or wqould be subject to really expensive operations

And watch the UE rate go t0 15% officially when businesses refuse to hire people.

Coming from the guy that obviously doesn't realize that it won't be the rich paying for it.  If you really believe that then you are truly naive.  Small business owners will be getting the shaft again from the federal government.  Did you not see the tax increases for small businesses?  What about the mandate that you will HAVE TO HAVE insurance?  This is supposed to be the land of the free...what the government gives, it can take away.  Remember that people.

Even if rich people CAN afford it...who do you think you are to take from them to pay for someone else?

i've said from minute 1 I don't like this bill.  My beef was equally with repubs who did nothing for HC for 12 years, allowing obama to shove thru the shit sandwich.  if repubs had fixed little things over the Bush presidency, obama wouldn't have gotten his bill thru.
