You don't need to tell me that - I worked for years in the games industry - but in todays times with all the computer and graphical power and options we have there is another way a free way to tell a story - many games have done so in the past already with an near perfect
sandbox feeling.
Scripting to the size of Modern Warfare is the lazy mans option, but its easier to QA test ;D

when it comes down to games I do ;) but I am hopelessly outdated since I don't have time to play anymore and every game I give a shot is somewhat
an disapointment.
Ah the good old times when I was playing Warcraft 1 on my rusty computer :)
And Dungeon Keeper... god damn what a great game Dungeon Keeper was  :'( :'(

What do you do for escapism?

When you grow up and actually think and act like an adult.......webcke pay attention here kid.........and have responsibilities.....you don't have time for "escapism".  I try to live in the real world buddy.  I have a wife, two dogs, own a home, a car etc.  So between all that, going to the gym, reading, taking classes, cooking, and the other shit responsible adults do I don't have time for video games.

LMAO....escapism?  Haha.  Next time you meet a WWII vet why don't you ask him what he used to do for "escapism" when he was younger.  And we wonder why America is on a downhill slip and slide of shit.

Dude - I got all that too - a home to maintain, a wife, a car, a responsible full-time job - all that can come with stresses and you need a bit of escapism to release the pressure of everyday life. Everyone winds down in different ways, that's all. I don't just play video games, I read and draw as well. Life is about balance and maintaining it to stay healthy.

Gaming can be relaxing and enables you to do better in other things in life as well, like with other forms of escapeism, taking drugs once in a while can be highly inspiring too.
its with everything in life you should do in moderation.
someone who says he doesnt escape in things doesnt live a healthy life.

I tend to agree with this.  Everything is in relation to everything else...workouts, music, jigsaw puzzles...they're all hobbies and they get me something repetitive to do when I need to get some shit either straightened out or just get some space.  As long as you do more than one thing in life, you are escaping from something, whether purposely or not.

Wouldn't an adult be able to think "hey, if thats what they like, more power to them, I dont like it though"

Instead of complaning about stuff which obviously makes people happy... :)

Epic grown men and insecure little teenagers who sit around playing video games living in their make believe reality all day.   ::)
so true.

Childish generation of young adults escaping their responsabilities and playing video games with their own kids, both being equally as addicted and fascinated (and endoctrinated).

I wont even mention the fact they could be spending time studying usefuly to improve their life's quality several hours a day, hundreds of hours a year instead of wasting their time and getting adicted to something that is purely useless and unporductive.

Dont even get me started on the fake feeling of playing with "other humans" in multiplayer, an often used argument to pretend that video games make you more of a sociable person, when in fact it gives you the false feeling that you re with people doing coordinated stuff, when in fact you re alone behind a computer screen with strangers doing nothing.it's especially dangerous for young children who get addicted to it and think it's how real life relationships work.

Video games are just another bad addiction that develops and worsen in the long term use. As are porn, smoking, being too materialistic etc. These people will make tomorow's psychologists main clientele.

If a grown man liked playing video games when he was young, but doesnt really have the time for it these days BUT finally gets time like once a week and loves it.

Why on earth would you complain on that?

i agree its better to spend the time to invest in yourself rather than spend wastefull time on games.
thats also the reason i dont play a lot anymore, i like it too much and it takes in so much time. time i could use to design the characters i normally play with in games for example.

PS3 network is free because it sucks.  XBox destroyed them in this capacity.

Look at CoD MW2.  Can't even play it on the PS3 Network until they fix it Friday.  Sony farms out the administration of the network to a third party, Microsoft does not.

XBox has better exclusive titles, online play, Netflix streaming, better controller, etc....

PS3 is a great blu-ray player that plays video games.

Is it true that all the real serious gamers play on PC?  I've always heard it's much better, but the controls seem like it would be awkward and suck.  Keep in mind that I hardly ever play any games at all anymore.

Is it true that all the real serious gamers play on PC?  I've always heard it's much better, but the controls seem like it would be awkward and suck.  Keep in mind that I hardly ever play any games at all anymore.

its really personal choice

im not a hardcore gamer (although i dabbled in that world of warcraft shit before, horrible game) but i do pick up the ones that are hyped

I bought it yesterday. Completed campaign in around 5 or so hours - albeit on regular.

Online it way harder aswell than COD4 - I used to love domination online but I am so disorientated on MW2 and dont really have a clue yet. Just ahve to stick at it

i never really played domination man, hardcore TDM was the best, now in MW2 you just pick your game type and go... and they think that '100 ping' is good... by any FPS standard its so bad, they justify it by saying 'but now everyone has 100 ping' REALLY ACTIVISION... REALLY

FPS games are a lot better on the PC. Much easier to aim with a mouse than a joystick. That said, they shit all over MW2 by not putting dedicated servers in. There are already videos of aimbotters out there that can't be banned because there are no admins on the hosted games. The lack of dedicated servers was done from a purely monetary perspective. Everyone will be forced to pay for the DLC now instead of downloading player made mods.

PC gamers are really having a tough time realizing that they're not the focus of the gaming industry.  They destroyed their own community with all the hacking/game hijacking.

Agreed totally, I am so sick of aimbots, campers, infinity jumps, etc. etc. plus with consoles I don't have to worry about frame rate or sitting in front of a computer desk, fuck I just lounge out in front of my 74" LCD turn on either ps3 or 360 and am online rocking. Less problems, less b.s to deal with., much more comfortable.

Some are very very enjoyable witha  mixture of stealth, attack, speed etc

How far is everyone in Modern Warfare 2 ??  I'm just starting the mission to rescue the guy from the Russian jail... this call of duty is a LOT harder/more involved then any previous one, the enemies just swarm on you, and the AI is properly done, very random...hard to predict where  enemies will be when.

Fininshed the game allbeit on regular level.

Played a bit online - most ppl seem to be camping a lot while they get their bearings

Co-op missions are really great!

ALSO - I cant connect online using my ps3 - Is the server down?

besides the game being about 500% bigger on the maps etc?

or being able to handle helicopters, tanks, atvs quads etc,

besides being able to blow down buldings and holes in concrete structures?

besides allowing 24 players at the same time?

besides going to have dedicated servers?

Pretty easy when the Cops stand out in the open when they return fire.   They should of made the AI more realistic by having them shoot from behind cover.

Anyone remember that game that was supposed to be the core for the army's REAL simulator !?! it was for xbox, Spec Ops or something like that..it had like 3 pages of possible button combinations/uses, it was ridiculous to try and remember all those combinations, like for instance if you wanted to order an air strike on an enemy.... anyone remember the name ?

yeah thats true but they added MW2 to Steam which is alot more susceptible to hackers and shit like that... Punkbuster (used for Cod4) was much better, although a bit tedious but it still worked, i never came across hackers.

and the modding/map creating communities keep games alive... how is that never a good thing for a company?

It was cool but ridiculously over the top, you had to memorize like 3 pages of buton combinations to do simple stupid shit, pure overkill... I'm trying to find the name of it, I have it on xbox (somewhere amongst my games) I'm pretty sure it started with an S, and I don't think it was SOCOM

America and June 23, 2006 in Europe.

The game has been adapted by psychologists to assist veterans from Iraq overcome the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder.[1]

As of September 29, 2008, the game has been released as a free download, sponsored by the United States Army. It is currently not supported in Canada.

Cool, the U.S Army released it as FREEWARE available as a download to anyone that wants it..
