Title: Chicken ?
Post by: needmoresize on November 11, 2009, 09:53:52 PM
How much, if at all, better is it to buy fresh, non frozen chix breast from the grocery store as apposed to the frozen Tyson bags? By better i mean both quality of taste and health factor. I know the frozen ones have higher sodium, but who gives a crap. After I marinate either one, it all tastes like the marinade to me. God I eat sooo much chicken, as Im sure you do. I need to know the best options as well as the best preparation.

In a perfect world I'd obviously go for fresh as there is more taste than defrosting frozen chicken but unfortunately it doesn't work like that if you're eating a lot of chicken (as I do too). I tend to find it's cheaper to buy in bulk and freeze the majority of it, leaving some fresh to last me a few days and then move onto the frozen stuff. I would never purposely buy ready-frozen chicken - I've found it to be inferior quality and the price isn't that much different.

Fresh would be my first choice, but if money is an issue don't worry frozen is fine.

Most chicken already frozen tends to be loaded with sodium.  They brine the breasts in salt water to help plump them then they deep freeze them.  Try to buy a boat load when they are on sale fresh and but a box of plastic wrap and start wrapping them one by one and freeze them.  It takes some time but it's worth it.

True that, thats what I do. I was just curious if you guys bought the frozen shiit too. You are right though, they di decieve you with weight. Those big ass breasts turn into tiny little pieces of shit after 3 mins
