amateur. I think the original question was IFBB pro career only.
Beckles 1975-1992 17 years
Coe 1976-1995 19 years
Mohamed Makkawy 1978-1999 21 years
Jocelyn Pelletier 1981-2009 28 years

no it was just pro career which would also include nabba pro universe comps.

Lou Ferrigno took a huge break, so not sure if you can consider him, but didn't he compete in the early 70s all the way up to 1994, when he lost the Masters Mr Olympia title to Robby Robinson (who is another person to consider, along with Ed Corney)?

Yep, good call - all three are probably up there.
-
Elliot Gilchrist must be the longest amateur with 34 years ?
-
Gary Styrdom
-
Jocelyn Pelletier (sp?)
Not sure I would call him "competitive" though :(
-
What about Pav hole Jab lonicky... or somethin
-
Maybe John Citrone of the UK depending how you are defining this.
Placed 2nd in the 1964 NABBA Mr Universe and 2nd in the NABBA Master 50+ in 2005. Thats 41 years.

I`d agree with funk51 about John Citrone who competed as a pro with NABBA and for amateurs maybe Walter O`Malley ,he began in 1969 and was still competing till a couple of years ago,in fact he guest posed at the age of 67,scroll down for the pics.

Didn't Bill Pearl compete till he was pretty old?
Albert Beckles and Boyer co must be high on the list.
The title of this thread suggests someone will post a big long cock, but I'm at work so can't make that joke.
