It's a harvest festival, just later than when people in other parts of the northern hemisphere celebrate it.

In the US, people 'celebrate' Thanksgiving.  Not a religious holiday at all, but a day in which many of us reflect on good friends and family, who come together, especially if some family is out of the state.  Not many days nowadays when the family gets together, etc.

As for others, in Canada, it is a normal day.  All go to work, etc.    But they do have their own 'Thanksgiving' Day, if I recall.

i'm sure Muslim's don't either. They were too busy throwing rocks at some imaginary devil near Meccah today and trampling woman and children on their way to the mosque.

Praise be to ALLAH

They have the Queen's Birthday, Guy Fawkes Day, Bank Holiday Monday, and Shrove Tuesday.  It's all fucked up over there.

I only heard of it from a Red Dwarf sketch.  Can't find the vid on YouTube but Rimmer is complaining how arbitrary it is to ask for help by saying "May Day" & he starts radioing, "Christmas Day!  Boxing Day! Shrove Tuesday!"

Lister: "It's French ya pillock!"

Same as Fat Tuesday/ Pancake Day/ Mardi Gras, apparently, & your people seem to favor something called a "festy cock" of all things.  I'm not going any further with that one.
