Title: Papantonio: Force the Insurance Industry to Operate in Free Market

For decades, the insurance industry has been able to operate outside the legal reach of the federal government when it comes to things like price-fixing and anti-trust laws. But the proposed reforms to healthcare in America could take away that exemption for them.

I agree that they should compete.  However, I also am fearful that the govt will place so many shackles on the terms of the playing field as to make it a sham.

Yes, but the govt is the one who oks the premiuim increases, sets the regulations in terms of what carriers have to cover, etc.  The govt granted the anitrust exemtption etc.

I agree with what a lot of what that guy said, but this bill in the senate does not do that.
