What's crazy is that imo, Paul Dillett looked to be in the same shape (conditioning and definition wise) as Dennis Wolf was at the 2009 Mr. Olympia, yet we see how high Paul placed, yet we see Paul having finished dead last this year.... :-\

Paul has better shape and symmetry than Wolf, also he may have been in better conditioning, for the standards were higher back then.

Flex came in too heavy, and if you look at his face he has that bloated full look. Like insulin? I know in his Mass Construction vid which was filmed after the 1996 Mr. O, he had a gut, that he had to hold in, it was pretty big too, not good for someone claiming a 27 inch waist back in 1993.

I woulda put Dillet behind Cziurlok.

JP Fux BCL(before Chris Lund) looking big!

Gunter was a rookie there, right?

Darrem was still all arms those days.

Fux looks really good there but i always thought he came in too heavy and should have dropped more. He had more than enough size.

I think he posed to Thunderstruck by ACDC and jump in the air and landed in the splits position. Dude, started to chase mass and lost his conditioning.

haha cause he just pigged the fuk out after the show. If you've ever competed, and consumed the amount of food these guys do, you can't hold your bloated stomach in very well. His waist looked small as fuk still though.

Do you agree that those guys were FAR superior to the current crop of pros? I know it's all subjective - and no one is "right" - but I just think that if you could time warp the current pros with the pros of 90's that it would be no contest... Dorian - Ronnie - Shawn - Flex - Kevin - Dillett - plenty other good ones...
I don't know what the reason is - just seems like the quality has dropped off

Amnesia, at the time, the Arnold was where Kev and Flex reigned supreme...with no Dorian as the standard bearer, Shawn would have best come in sliced like a mofo. Remember he technically won it twice.

Almost everyone at the time thought Flex won that show hands-down.  KevLo was a bit harder in the hams and glutes, but Kevin had that classic "bloofy" look going.  After the ASC, Dillet couldn't believe a "fat man" like Levrone could've won.

He wasn't fat at all, but he was definitely not at his best.  VERY big, but not better.

As I recall, the final placings should've been something like this:

Flex
Kevin
Shawn
Paul
Vince tied with Andy ... Vince looked good, but Andreas was BIG and shredded.  Vince was shapely as usual but looked 16 weeks out next to Munzer.

... then maybe Cottrell, then Roland Czir ... err, whatever:  that ripped Polish/German kid who got robbed at the '94 O; etc., etc., until you reach Fux in last place.  He was huge but smooth as a fucking whale.  Even the other Roland, the Arnold lookalike, deserved to whoop his ass by virtue of far superior conditioning.

It was a great ASC overall, though.  '95 was OK but Francois steamrolled that line-up.  '94 could've been great if Dillet wasn't such a moron; KLo and Vince had a good "battle", but without Paul in the mix, the rest of the field was pretty boring.  Only '93 and maybe '97 or '98 were better.

in 95 Flex had better shape, and to me was better than Mike Francois from the front. But, when they turned around, Mike had him. Flex was soft from the lower back-glute-hams, his trouble spot.

it was right after that that levrone supposedly found 'igf1' and put on 10-15lbs of muscle.. most likely he just bumped his gh dosage and added insulin.

levrone the year after looked like complete shit at the Arnold classic.. I think that was the year??.. but was the biggest I'd ever seen him at the MrO, then cut way down and tightened up for the Grand Prix and had his best ever showings during that grand prix... after that he had back problems and quit training legs... and probably started drinking a lil more. lol.

Then maybe some nice shots of Mike Fracois, Claude Groulx, Porter Cotrell, Charles Clairmont, Hamdullah Aykutluh...

I haven't seen any pics of these guys in years and they had some rockin' physiques. Even though Charles Clairmont looked scarier than Frankenstein and Dillett combined, he had an amazing physique ~

I wonder what Vic Richards looks like today also... hmmmmmmmmmm

absolutely. dude had the largest muscular arms I've ever seen.. as in not filled with oil (not 'obviously' filled like kovacs that is).

paco's are good.. or great, but his arms are shorter.. dillet's arms are long and the muscle bellies were full from top to bottom.

And no one ever really talked about this much, but his forearms were retarded huge, as were his calves. A very sick genetic combination of freakish bodyparts.

Like everyone said, if his back had kept up, he wouldn't have even had to show up on stage the day of the show. They'd just mail him the trophy every year.

Hmm ... what was the year Levrone turned up looking like total garbage at the ASC?

I think it actually was the 1997 rendition -- good call, ESF!  And yeah, he looked awful.  About 25 lbs. too heavy, like he hadn't even dieted for the thing.  I think he got 8th place that year, which was a gift.  But sure enough, he did tighten up for the Mr. O and looked really big and pretty good.  I'm thinking he was in third?  And he did win a few Grand Prix shows.  Nasser whipped him in a couple, and Ronnie won the Russian show.  Apart from maybe the '98 ASC, in which I think Ronnie competed (?????), Levrone never "won" against Coleslaw again :D

Ronnie competed in 97 ASC as well. I think Levrone got 5 or 6th in 97 ASC, with Lee Priest ahead of him. In 99 he was flat and apparently wore his posing trunks backwards, according to Nasser.

Yeah, Levrone looked pretty bad at the 1997 AC (Pic below). Also, Ronnie didn't compete at the 1998 AC. The last two AC Ronnie competed in was in 1997 and then 2001. The last show Levrone beat Ronnie was at the 1998 San Francisco Pro and in my opinion Ronnie should of won (pics below).

its' that 'paying your dues' bullshit that ruins the sport.   cutler was at his best years before he won the olympia.

absolutely. dude had the largest muscular arms I've ever seen.. as in not filled with oil (not 'obviously' filled like kovacs that is).

paco's are good.. or great, but his arms are shorter.. dillet's arms are long and the muscle bellies were full from top to bottom.
Thats true that Pacos arms are shorter. Then Pauls arms are more than 24inchs.....jeez..

No way, Dillet was 270 at 6'1"!

Yup. He climbed up from 240 pounds (competition) and peaked at around 290 pounds by 1999/2000. Offseason weight was 310-330 pounds.

If that's true, then Darrem paid his dues for a LONG time, with no complaints.

NASSER would have won that show had he competed in it.

His immediate-prior show, the 95 Olympia, he got 3rd and Kevin got 2nd since he was the new up and commer and they weren't quite ready to place him above Kevin yet.  At the 96 Olympia the judges did place Nasser ahead of Kevin though (prior to the disqualification B.S.) but it showed that by 96 the judges were willng to give Nasser the nod above Kevin - same would have happened had he competed in the 96 AC

Darrem won nine ifbb pro shows., shows he wouldn't have won had he not paid his dues.

yeah, but he had been a pro since 92, and the first of his 9 Pro wins came in 2002, that is 10 yrs of paying your dues. 10 yrs of getting shafted.

Yes he competed in an era with kevin, Chris, dex, Shawn, lee, Nasser, Dorian, flex, Ronnie, etc... To even place is a accomplishment.

He would win all pro shows now, hell he's beaten a young Phil too

Yates would've won if he competed
