I liked the Mankind character when he started sucking up to evil Vince.

That show when Vince hurt his ankle…
The camera panned in for a close-up of him, and Foley’s arm appeared in the frame stuffing candy into Vince’s breast pocket.
Then he offers Vince a soft drink.
The look on the old man’s face was hysterical.

The vignettes they ran over the next month or so were CLASSIC.
Those two had really good chemistry together.

It was all pretty good, although I lost a bit of interest when Mick switched to more comedy & less ring work.
As a supplement to the character it was great, but to rely on it exclusively just didn't work the same.

In Foleys first book (i think) he wrote that his body couldn't handle the beatings anymore so he switched to more of a comedy character to stay over, which is ironic considering he's still going. I like the original Mankind with the screeching, hair pulling etc.. I always thought it was creepy after he beat an opponent they played this soft, soothing music

I like Cactus as well, still my favorite ECW and had awesome matches in Japan. I love the "anti hardcore" stuff. One of my favorite promos ever...

Yeah.
I think he probably just needed a break.

CJ was great - too bad he was so stifled and misused down Georgia.
I think the original Mankind would have fared better & longer had the pro wrestling atmosphere not switched to tits & catch phrases.
But he did adapt.

Does he still take indy bookings?

He's been in TNA for a year or so, he's a major player there. He left WWE supposedly because he couldn't take Vince screaming in his ear during Smackdown tapings.

I voted for Cactus Jack but I would have voted for retired and off tv if that was an option.

I saw him in a few TNA clips.

I know he was one of the last WWF guys who were able to take third-party bookings on the side (clause worked into their contracts right before the Attitude Era exploded).

At least several years ago I remember seeing Chris Daniels & Styles doing indy appearances.
Just wondered if Foley and/or any other TNA workers still do that.

I think a few of them do, but not many.  I remember hearing that Matt Morgan was available for hire during a TNA tour not too long back.
