Been reading that Fedors does a lot of weight training and heavy as part of his training, anyone know what poundages this animal throws around?
-
weights don't hit back !
unless you drop them on your toes :(
-
Doesn't matter really!
As long as Fedor is strong enough to do a Sambo-throw on a much heavier opponent (Zulu) it's all good.
-
force = weight X speed(acceleration)
so lifting weights with explosive speed would be very beneficial for a fighter, and a big advantage over an opponent. since that type of lifting capability would give the person the ability to generate alot of force, which would most likely disable the other person
-
Fedor has force enough to demolish his opponent.
-
I remember reading that he did no weight training and preferred to do things like hitting tires with sledge hammers, bands and kettlebells.

well if he comes across an opponent with more force, hes likely to lose.

No, Fedor is not all about force, he is also skill/technique, speed, explosiveness, conditioning, recovery, balance.
Mere force is not enough to topple The Last Emperor. Brett Rogers tried, and while he did have force, he lacked other attributes.

if fedors limit on punishment is exceeded, he will be defeated. the way punishment limit is exceeded is through forceful blows.

Any top 10 Mr. Olympia competitor, actually probably any top 100 IFBB male bodybuilder would destroy Fedor in the ring. He wouldn't know what hit him.

True...

lol-- the only thing that any BB would destroy Fedor in is the number of times they were anally penetrated by a schmoe with a video camera during a G4P posing session.

That's where countering comes in.
Avoid punishment and counter when the opponent attacks. Be unpredictable.
The only one who made Fedor wobble like a duck was Fujita back in the day, where Fedor had to clinch, but due to his great recovery, he was back in action very quick after.
And don't forget the Randleplex, that didn't even seem to phaze The Last Emperor.

Bigbobs, stop already. Tbombz, your close, but fighers have to be trained a certain way. Traditional weight training doesn't cut it. Power always comes before strength and muscular endurance is never in the equation in MMA.
-
Some of you guys are fucking delusional.
Anderson Silva at 185 would destroy any BB regardless of weight- as would Fedor.
Being able to bench press 500 lbs while on 2000mg of test weekly doesn't mean you can punch, kick or grapple your way out of a wet paper bag.
-
I'll go one further and say Pacquio as well.
-
the only poundages fedor lifts are quarter pounder cheeseburgers at mcdonalds.

He doesen't believe in strength training with powerlifting and bodybuilding exercises. He believes these are unnatural movements that only gives you strength to perform those movements. Fedor says that if you want real strength that is useful in a fight, then you need to increase your strength in movements that come naturally for our morphology, like lifting rocks from the ground, hitting things with a sledge hammer and etcetera. The deadlift, squat and bench press are unnatural movements that only gives you strength to perform them. There are only two ways to increase your punching strength:
1. Punching as hard as you can repeatedly.
2. Throwing things with your arms.
