I've always done standard, deep squats with a straight bar.
But, I'm seeing some guys doing box squats, and some using the safety bar for some sets.
Thoughts on these variations for mass purposes?

See no purpose, other than to ensure depth......knew a guy who used to take a piece of string, check his depth and tape it into the powerrack. He would just be sure to touch the string. Serves the same purpose. But I'm sure some getbigger will have a lengthy explanation on how it improves your max squat by .10000004000000 of a lb.

Anyone actually squat with a safety bar? Thinking of giving that a try before the box squats.

I did boxsquat for a while, they gave me strength and made my overall squat technique even better.

We use box squats and one of out indicator lifts for our record boards. We box squats to increase explosive power and to help teach squat technique. Our reps are 1-3. They are not to build size but to increase power.
Sorry about the camera work :(
