Damn that's fucked up. When in atlanta the response is similar. They are asshole bums...but here in LA the homeless for the most part are appreciative.

That's because she can buy whatever she wants with the money...alcohol and/or drugs.
This is also the very reason I don't ever give homeless people any money. Because you know that they won't better themselves, or for the most part even attempt it.
On a side note, I was once at a truck stop in the middle of BFE, and there was a guy outside obviously homeless. This lady went into the store without asking him what he would like to eat, actually she didn't even speak to him at all- just purchased some beef jerky for him to be a good Samaritan. He comes out and hands him the package, and he's extremely grateful, but also apologetic that he cannot not eat any of the beef jerky because he had no teeth! He stated "My dog eats better than I do! Everyone at truck stops seems to buy the beef jerky for me, but since I have no way to eat it, I have to give it to my dog."
The lady silently went back inside and bought him something that he could eat.

I had a friend of mine who would keep a little box of canned food in his car.....the ones with the pop top.....and some plastic forks/spoons and would give it to the homeless who beg at stoplights. He said it was about 50/50 on accepting it, or acting like toolbags.

I had a guy ask for "spare change?" outside of a McDonald's once, so I bought a bagful of burgers and a drink and handed it to him on the way out.

Theres good homeless and theres bad homeless people ...
The nights that i bounce at the club, i usually stop by the local Subway or pizza shop and get a sandwich, if theres a homeless there and asks for money, i tell them if they want a slice of pizza... some of them thank me so much that it makes me feel so good, some others say "just give me the money", which then im like HELL NO, cuz im not gonna pay for his drugs.
Some of them if you really get to talk to them, you'll feel so bad... the shit that happened to them can happen to anyone... we have a usual homeless who hangs out around the backdoor of the club and i usually bring him bottles of cold water, and he started telling me his, damn man i almost cried... some sad shit

yeah its easy...i been doin it as a kid...not a lot to it...just an hour or two..
The one in LA i go to is the midnight mission. With this one...all you do is go up to the desk and tell them you wanna volunteer..and then they just say yeah you can scoop food, or give the plates to the handicapped...or you can pick up the plates and dump them in the trash...they are hella cool. usually there is some non profit group there, but i just get in where i fit in..
good on ya bro...man you never know their story and they can always use a hand up.

Good job Mal. Anyone who bashes you are just ignorant morons. Donating time to a charitable cause is even better than giving money. I spent two thanksgivings in Richmond Virgina at my friend restaurant/club feeding the homeless turkey dinner and in Hawaii I bought 20 turkeys twice and went to the Blaisedell Center to help feed the homeless. Donating time is very very rewarding and make you feel very good inside. Congrats to you

They know me as muffin man because my friend owns a bakery and at the end of the day we take the unsold ones and pass them out at the park. I'm saying. There is an program called feed the hungry, that's just the name but they actually get out and do. So while you're trolling the net on some dumb shit, there are people out there helping the less fortunate and under names like feed the needy, feed the hungry etc. So you focus on names while I and others like myself focus on helping out a little. And I was putting it up on getbig is to see if any one wanted to help. It aint no thing to me though. Also, if you feel any type of way about what I said, I'm not hard to find. So like I said. thats right bro.. though i dont know what they are going to do with the money...with food..you pretty much know they cant go hawk it for smack...
but if you really talk to homeless or just lest fortunate..you will see all of them dont do drugs..its a small percentage actually. And most of them are greateful for anything they can get. So give out food and clothes if you can.... because think about this....
They need a sweater maybe...they get maybe 20 bucks from asking people on the streets. But they arent going to go into Ross and buy a sweater because maybe they are ashamed or something. So you can just give them an old sweater you got that you never wear...Its nothin to you, but its the difference between freezing and being warm for a long time for them..
