one of my favorites.. good shape and well proportioned.. his biceps are from the best ever!!.. but as many others when he tried to add more size he lost some of his beautiful lines.. he would have been definitely one of the very top pros if he had appeared in the 80s!!..

Awesome physique!

Talk about an awesome physique.  That is what I strive to look like one day.  Screw looking like Coleman, Cutler, etc,  I would take this look 1000x over those any day of the week.

Could you imagine how much vag was thrown at him on a daily basis. He probably stunk of gina juice cause it was thrown at him so much.

can you imagine the feeling of working arms and posing and looking at yourself in the mirror when you look like that ..or lifting your shirt and see all the ripped abs. amazing feeling im sure  :D

then going to french riviera and get old women to pay everything for you  ;D (not saying charles did that tho!....i would if i looked like him lol)

no sorry i dont know why he retired but i know he didnt look as ripped at mr olympia as previous years.

i guess he lacked alittle thickness (compared to guys like nasser, yates, francois..)..but his shape was elite of the elite...

I remember reading a quote in one of the mags by him one time right before he retired and it was him telling one of the Flex writers that bodybuilding was basically "self-induced torture" and that's all it was.  So the man surely suffered for this level of conditioning and one day I'm sure he just said "fuck this."

He claimed in one article that he never trained abs. But that island bwouy had some great genetics. And his wife was pretty also. There was some beef between her and JP Fux I think on the 96 or 97 Grand Prix Tour. She said Fux had a small wang for a dude so huge.

Great physique no doubt and the continuation of the 80's best physiques like Berry, Labrada, Benfatto,....Couldn't really compete with the new standards (Pastel had the same problem). A guy like Dex would probably look huge next to him. Bbing has clearly taken a turn for the worse.

pastel was another (is) favourite of mine..he had insanely large arms for his short statue..crazy arms. my uncle saw him workout and told me he almost started laughing hysterically when he saw him do seated db curls.  ;D

great abs (and the rest was good too..including great calves...which isnt often isnt the case for black people)

Pastel was like a short version of Flex, wasn't he like 5'1-5'2. I have a old, early 90's Flex with him in it.

No, he wasn't 5'1" or 5'2". He was a few inches taller than that. I think he was the same height as Francis Benfatto (5'5"). I think a better comparison would be between him and Serge Nubret.

Everyone says he chased the size game. I don't see it??? He was 6'0". In the early 1990's he competed at 235 pounds. By the mid 90's he was only 245-250 pounds. He was 6'0" and carried the weight very well.

245-250 isnt 'only' in competition shape..its huge..but its easy to get a bit 'mass blind' when you have some beasts competing at 260+ at around 6'0 or slightly less. happens to me too  :)

perfect example of what you can achieve with an unbiased judging panel, being a former nabba competitor and based outside the usa, thats not a good thing for placings in the ifbb usually

had to pay his dues after switching federations, had he not competed in nabba couldve been different story

Charles did have a fantastic physique though and showcased what bodybuilding should be. Himself, Labrada, Bob Paris, Francis Benfatto, were all ideal physiques exemplifying what bodybuilding should be.

No, he wasn't 5'1" or 5'2". He was a few inches taller than that. I think he was the same height as Francis Benfatto (5'5"). I think a better comparison would be between him and Serge Nubret.
shorter than benfatto, somewhere between flavio bacciannini and priest ;D

he was a nubret pupil

tiny waist, great calves and arms the size of his head!

Charles and thierry were the real aesthetic guys of the 90's. Who the fuck would put Dorian or Ronnie above either lol.

perfect example of what you can achieve with an unbiased judging panel, being a former nabba competitor and based outside the usa, thats not a good thing for placings in the ifbb usually

had to pay his dues after switching federations, had he not competed in nabba couldve been different story

No bro, Levrone and Flex were holding at least 10 pounds of water more than they were at the Olympia at that English show. They were much bigger and thicker than Charles and their structure was at least as good. They were just way off at those shows.

I saw the video of it. I think it was on some bio vid of Charles and it was made for schmoes. My bud picked it up cheap as he thought it would be good. Backyard training for schmoes at it's finest with some contest coverage thrown in. Flex and Levrone were at another level than Charles but they were way off that show, like they didn't care.

I was there to see Charles in 92 and 93,and in 93 he definitely deserved to beat Flex and Kevin. In 92 he placed 17th out of 17,looked really bad,but found out after the show he had only been back training a couple of months,so looked nothing like he did in his nabba days. You could say he won the english gp because he was on his home turf, but he also beat them in the other european gps as well.

Darrem is always telling me that I remind himself of Charles Clairmonte. My face, my hair and my classical physique. Well I tell you what...Charles competed 15 years ago but if I'll achieve his level then I'll be pleased.

Awesome physique!

I agree to the lines being similar, wasn't Clairemont 5'11"?
