sorry man dont understand what you meen.

but yes many french bodybuilders followed some of serge ideas, which honestly arent that good for natural bodybuilders. but yes many of top french bodybuilders had amazing builts..often abit smaller than american bodybuilders.

nubret and pastel were amazing.

If one could overlook his height, he perhaps had the best physique of any pro thus far. Like a more jacked Nubret without sacrificing any aesthetics.

HOW CAN YOU NOT GRASP THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE 'SURGE?'

yes i think it has to do with serges theory of avoiding direct trap training...no deadlifts and shrugs. obviously rows will always train trapz..but serge hated big upper traps.

no matter, pastels physique is very very cool even if he didnt wanna build huge traps.  ;)

""surge" has reckless behavior connotations by definition (think alkita surge ect) but has a power component by definition that is pronounced exceedingly over other names

some supposed information about pastels training :

worksout 5 hours per day: one muscle group : one hour. rest one hour. next muscle group for an hour, rest etc. during the rest hour he would eat.

he did a bunch of reps..squats up to 100 reps.

not something i recommend, if true.

he was fantastic. I forgot how good his legs were, and he had great calves to boot.

great upper body, fantastic arms..

I always felt he was overlooked all the time, but it was probably his height.

he should have one a few of the GP shows, but never did, actually I believe he won one of them. I will have to check musclememory and see which one..

Yeah I'd read something along those lines that he did things like that.

To be honest, like a lot of guys from former french african colonies, they were all ripped to the bone doing jack shit, combine that with very high natural test levels you can get away doing all sorts of stupid things and still grow.

This african dude at my gym is probably the most incompetant clueless guy Ive seen, no technique, lifts light weights every time he's down there.Blows away 90% of everyone in the gym in terms of physique.

the question is that why a guy like him was treated unfairly while a guy like labrada was a very top pro.!!!.. labrada too is one of my favorites but pastel clearly had a better back and arms!!.. over all he was well balanced and all his muscles looked good with the exception of his lower chest!!..
Title: Re: thierry pastel
Post by: Figo on December 20, 2009, 06:55:23 AM
Traps & chest. Also bit narrow. Very underrated, but Labrada was a much more complete and polished competitor.

Also, being based in the US would make a huge difference, all things being equal, Labrada was a fan favorite, all over the mags, and the judges get influenced by stuff like that.

he did win a GP show in 1990.

I believe he made the same mistake as Milos did- he competed way too often, never giving his body a chance to rest and grow, he was in a constant state of precontest mode.

perhaps that hurt him.

Pastel was a great BB
extremely overlooked and underrated and never given his just placings
should ahve won quite a few pro shows

Like Nasser explained, if you are not an NPC american BB or a foreigner, it is just so much harder to get a just placing.

By that logic shouldn't Yates or Schwarzenegger considered foreign as well?

Nasser and many others were sponsored by weider and were living in the US. If the Weiders were so focused on letting the US dominate bodybuilding why bother spending millions sponsoring "foreigners" and setting them up only to screw them over in competition?  If there was  such a  bias towards these "foreigners"  how did nasser win the NOC and AC?

Lets dispense with nassers whining. The man has  every excuse in the book for all his shortcomings.
It's always someone else's fault not his.....his wife, the judges, 9/11,dorian yates....the list goes on.

Determined people  will inevitably succeed no matter what obstacles are placed in front of them.  Arnold could have just as easily changed his name to sound more american but he didn't. He blazed his own trail and achieved everything he set out to do. People like nasser falter and then try to blame everyone else for their failures.
