Title: Serena named AP Female Athlete of the Year...a horse places 2nd

Runner-up in the AP voting was Zenyatta, winner of the Breeders' Cup.  I think things are pretty bad in women's sports when a horse is viewed as the #2 'female athlete' in the world.

Honestly, the horse won, but most of the writers couldn't tell them apart.  :P

That is hilarious. I'm sorry, but that is a big step back for women's sports when they give awards to animals instead of humans lol

What happened to all the marketable tennis and soccer players?  Michelle Wie isn't gorgeous, but she's not ugly either.  She just has no game right now, I guess.  Women's basketball may sell tickets to the corporate and lesbian sets, but for whatever reason, the players just aren't able to sell other products. 

Jenny Finch decided to go be a wife and mom.  Boo.  Has Sharapova's star already faded?  Why don't we see more of Natalie Gulbis? 

I think a hot woman golfer can sell stuff, even if she's not a rock star on the tour.  All she has to do is look good, I'd imagine, just as we had with Kournikova in tennis.
