FCking Communist Bastards
Going 35 mph over the speed limit ONLY! fucking Police state bullshit
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100107/ap_on_fe_st/eu_odd_switzerland_huge_speeding_fine (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100107/ap_on_fe_st/eu_odd_switzerland_huge_speeding_fine)
ST. GALLEN, Switzerland – A Swiss court has slapped a wealthy speeder with a chalet-sized fine — a full $290,000.
Judges at the cantonal court in St. Gallen, in eastern Switzerland, based the record-breaking fine on the speeder's estimated wealth of over $20 million.
A statement on the court's Web site says the driver — a repeat offender — drove up to 35 miles an hour (57 kilometers an hour) faster than the 50-mile-an-hour (80-kilometer-an-hour) limit.
Court clerk Heidi Baumann-Becker said Thursday the unidentified driver can appeal the decision, handed down in November, to the Swiss supreme court.
The Blick daily newspaper in Zurich reported the fine was more than twice the previous Swiss record of about $107,000.

Yeah because a hundred dollar fine would have taught him a lesson...

I agree with the judge.

I dunno...
Here in the USA, if you based fine upon income...
You'd have unemployed people driving 90 mph in school zones, laughing at their $6 speeding ticket.
As it is now, if they can't pay the ticket, they get their license suspended. Drive at that point, they go to jail.
-
good stuff - if the guy isn't gonna learn then what choice do you have?
-
thats the way it should be , fines should be based on % of your income not a flat rate , people who are rich laugh at 500$ fines , while people making 24 k a year get crippled by it , fucking up there rent and groceries ,socialism rules , props to switzerland
Are you crazy? ???

I wouldn't say socialism rules, but as far as incentives go, the Swiss model would seem to work better than a flat rate model. Someone told me that Finland has that system in place too but I am not sure.
-
% income fine makes sense, on the surface atleast.. why not?
-
The trade off for their "free" health care...LOL!
-
That's some funny shit, lol
-
Here on getbig 290K is no big deal for a speeding ticket ::)

So let me get this straight - it's bad news when a junkie shoots up, endangering no one but himself, but when someone goes way over the speed limit endangering himself and others around him it's ok.

$290,000?

$290,000?
Yeah - it is funny - but the guy is a repeat offender and he obviously didn't learn his lesson. He'll think twice I'm sure next time.

shutup, your just afraid of a expensive ticket based on your income, socialism will rule in this country very soon you zionist.

JT, when you grow up and find a husband, are you guys going to move to a nice communist country?
-
if there was some kind of baseline - like, AT LEAST a $50 ticket - I'd be okay with it.
I see lots of local broke people who drive slow because they can't afford a ticket. if it was suddenly a $6 ticket, they'd make the road a lot more dangerously.
And saying junkies hurt nobody but themselves - I have to disagree. They don't just stay in their house and do drugs. They drive under the influence, they find other ways to fck up the world.
I'm a libertarian but I understand if you legalized meth and H and crack tomorrow, people wouldn't just stay home and do it. They'd shoot up on playgrounds. people, in general, are inconsiderate.

Well if drugs were legal you would obviously need to have rules - just like with alcohol - people who are drunk and disorderly get locked up don't they?
-
yes, drunks get locked up, but not nearly enough. I'm on the road late a lot, and I tell ya, drunks are everywhere after midnight. They do make your life a hell when they catch you, but the VAST majority of drunk drivers get away with it.
People just aren't responsible. if there was some kinda deal where you could use indoors 100% legal, but do it and drive and you get 5 years prison, no questions asked, I'd be cool with that.
But you know people... make it legal and they'll be doing it on street corners and bathrooms and everywhere else. Can't just enjoy somethign nice, have to fck it up for everyone (and I've never used drugs)

That's where you need my ten strikes eugenics program - ten strikes and you and your offspring are euthanized ;D

The sad thing is that Zionists like 240 LOOK FORWARD to the USA becoming socialized! :-X
-
???
uh, no. i just want tougher prosecutions for people who hurt others. I think drunk drivers get off way too easy. i don't care if somebody smokes crack and shoots H in their home. But you just know ppl would drive to buy snacks on that shit.
-
290 k...
i would just charge it to the Harvard Endowment fund petty cash fund that i run...
-
Sometimes I wish I was poor so I wouldn't have to worry about money/asset allocation all the time.

He will just write it off. ;D

ofc there's gonna be a baseline, and I'd suggest an upper limit as well, but in between it's based on income.
I have no idea why Coach is taking stabs at countries that have a far better healthcare system in place than the US. Coach have you ever been to north-western Europe?

ahhh speeding is okay if you drive a BMW or similar...only regular boring cars should get speeding tickets

True dat...

I agree with the fine. It should be based more on persons income. Of course there should be limit set as well. To the person who said that if it was the case then the poor people would speed without a care since their ticket would only be 6 dollars or so. Thats why if you get 3 speeding tickets in a year your license should be suspended and if you get caught driving with suspended license you go to jail.
I also think that most of the drugs should be legalized if you doing it in your own house. If you are caught doing it in public or driving in public then you should be taken to jail just like with drunk driving.
We should not make something illegal based on WHAT IF'S!!!! People need to take responsibility for their own action and other people need to stop policing others and stop minding their own business if it brings NO harm to them. If and when person does something that he was not supposed to do hen that and only that person should be dealt with. Its wrong to take away things from whole society based on bad actions of few bad apples and based on WHAT IF'S.
